ATHOL Machinist Job Summary: Responsibilities would include, but are notlimited to, the following: Diversified work. Construct and assemblevarious special gages for measuring thickness, inside and outsidediameters, concentricity, angles, depths, grooves, chamfers, and variousother special purposes. Perform manual tool room machining operations,which require various regular and exacting setups to maintain closetolerances. Benchwork tasks involve filing, lapping, fitting,assembling, and adjusting to meet drawing specifications, usuallyassisted by a higher-class gage maker in the more difficult phases ofmachine setup and assembly of gages. Recognize and report for correctionof basic blueprint errors such as missing dimensions or spelling.Maintain close tolerances. Detect faulty operation or defective materialand report these and other questionable conditions to the foreman.
