As a machine / tool repair specialist, you will be responsible for building, and repairing tools, machines, and fixtures used in the manufacturing processes. This role involves machining and the use of various hand and machine tools to create tools that assist operators in the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup: Set up and configure machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
Material Selection: Choose the appropriate raw materials (metal or plastic) based on requirements.
Quality Control: Use measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues with machines or tools, making adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure proper functionality and minimize downtime.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional vocational training, apprenticeship, or certification in toolmaking or a related field is desired but not required.
Experience: Previous experience as a Tool Maker or in a similar role is often preferred but not required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in the use of various machine tools and precision measuring instruments. Knowledge of CNC machining may be beneficial.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze and solve problems related to tool design, fabrication, and performance as well as machine maintenance and upkeep.
Communication: Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Physical Stamina: May spend extended periods standing and operating machinery, requiring physical fitness and stamina.
