The job duties of this UAW-Skilled Trades represented position includes:- Diagnose for defects in operation, disassemble, repair, replace parts and re-assemble to operating condition all machines, machine tools and mechanical equipment.- Perform all layout, machining and mechanical operations incidental to tearing down, rebuilding and reconditioning machines and mechanical equipment, except certain operations describe under specific classifications for Millwright; Repairer- Elevator; Repairer - Sewing Machine; Electrician, and other specialized mechanical repair work.- Scrape ways; reline spindles and shafts; scrape and fit bearings; repair and adjust clutches; repair valves, solenoids and cylinders.- Fit precision parts; cut and match gears; change feed and speed control gears; set automatic timing devices; align and balance work and be sure that the completed work is in a safe operating condition.- May also be required to handle/manage hazardous waste from time to time.Position Requirements:- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.- Journeyman Card Machine Repair or eight (8) years of documented experience.- US Citizenship required.- Must be able to successful complete the pre-employment process including drug screen and background check.- Must be able to obtain/maintain DOD security clearance.- Must be able to obtain facility unescorted access through the Department of Army Police administered process.- Overtime and off-shift work may be required.- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment that includes high noise, dust, and fumes.- Must be able to lift (unassisted) up to 50 lbs.- Must be able to work on railed, step platforms, or on top of Abrams vehicles (approximately 9ft).General Dynamics Land Systems is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
