  Do you want to work in a state-of-the-art small animal intensive care unit in a veterinary teaching hospital?

  What you will do at Cornell University Hospital for Animals:

  Provide excellent patient care with current technology, mentorship, internal and external continuing education opportunities and, most importantly, peers who are just as passionate about providing the best care possible as you are.Manage and care for a mix of primary and specialty cases from your vomiting puppy to critical trauma patients.Use and develop your routine and advanced technical skills from venipuncture to triple lumen catheter placement with our busy caseload.Teach and guide our diverse DVM students and house officers through complex treatment plans and technical skill training.Collaborate with multiple specialty services with the opportunity for cross-training.

  We are looking for an experienced Licensed or License eligible Technician with the following skills:

  Excellent interpersonal communicationAbility to work independently and as part of a collaborative, inter-professional care teamCritical thinking and observation skillsMeticulous attention to detail when calculating and administering medicationsAbility to successfully provide critical patient skills, such asUrinary catheter placement and careMedical calculations including constant rate infusionsVenipuncture and arterial blood samplingChest tube managementPlacement and maintenance of central line cathetersUsing various oxygen therapies such as High Flow and nasal cannulae

  What qualifications are required?

  Associate degrees from an AVMA accredited institution plus NYS licensure; up to 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.Interest in on-going career growth and advanced skill development.

  Cornell University Hospital for Animals is our core clinical training, patient care and research unit within the CVM, composed of six diverse world-class veterinary clinical units providing primary and specialty care. The Cornell Veterinary teaching hospital has 23 services led by internationally renowned board-certified veterinary specialists, providing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic care of animals including 24/7 emergency care.
