Job Description:
The University of Texas at Dallas McDermott Library seeks a collaborative individual with a high level of paraprofessional skill to support the operation of the Acquisitions unit of the University libraries. This position will be responsible for ordering through the Rialto vendor platform, receiving or activation, and invoicing of library materials in various formats using the library’s automated system.
This position will also process and order lost/damaged items from the library’s collections, as well as the processing, shipping, and receiving of library items to and from the bindery. This position reports to the Head of Acquisitions and Electronic Resources.
Standard work conditions include frequent and ongoing computer and keyboard use, as well as the moving and boxing of books.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a library setting; or any comparable combination of education and practical experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and/or academic library work experience preferred.
Computer skills necessary for data entry (Microsoft Office preferred) and the ability to learn new software systems.
Knowledge of MARC records and serial publications.
Preference given to candidates with ALMA experience.
Preference given to candidates with book repair experience.
High attention to detail and accuracy are essential to this position.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and switch between tasks.
Working knowledge of library acquisition and management of monographs and serials, and/or electronic resources.
