  Join the Scottsdale Public Library family! We are looking for dynamic, self-starters with strong customer service skills to join the Youth & Adult Services team at the Civic Center Library. Ideal candidates will be creative people who love to interact with library users of all ages.

  About the Position

  This position will also interact with diverse patrons of all ages and maintains flexibility to cover both youth and adult service points. Youth position includes offering programming to youth of all ages, including early literacy programming and outreach visits. Adult position includes offering programming to adult population including device and technological assistance and modeling. This position provides in-person, telephone, and virtual customer service, readers advisory to library patrons of all ages, and assistance to patrons using the library's downloadable resources and databases. Both youth and teen departments provide outreach to the community. Our team values flexibility and all staff close one night per week and work 2-3 weekend days per month.

  Please note: Due to this position being part-time, the classification is unclassified, meaning it is at-will and serves at the discretion of the City. These positions have limited benefits.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Education and ExperienceA Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.Six months of library or related experience.Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted. Licensing, Certifications and Other RequirementsEvery person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/section assignment.

  Essential Functions

  Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:Provide and model exceptional customer service by making the customer the first priority.Establish, maintain, and foster positive, harmonious, professional, and effective working relationships.Create and deliver exceptional programming and educational opportunities within the library, through community outreach, and virtually.Teach and collaborate with customers, staff, and a variety of organizations to create content, to be effective consumers of information, and to be a lifelong learner.Work at all public service points to include Customer Service Desk where payments are processed.

  Work Environment/Physical Demands

  Work a varied schedule, including weekends and evenings.

  PLEASE NOTE: Years of experience are based on a work schedule of 2,080 hours per year for full-time positions and 1,040 hours per year for part-time positions, and while work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, depending upon the job classification, education may not be substituted for work experience.
