Metro Health (now the University of Michigan Health-West) is looking for Lead Ultrasound Tech - Ultrasound * Days - 40 hours/week 

　　As team leader, assumes responsibility for daily operations and staffing of assigned areas. Leads in a positive, constructive manner to assist staff members in achieving customer service and volume goals. Responsibility is to perform various diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures employing high frequency sound waves. This requires independent judgment, initiative, and ingenuity.

　　Must have excellent organizational, customer service and problem solving skills. Will complete peer evaluations and assist Supervisor in performing evaluations. Will participate with supervisor in employee disciplinary counseling sessions and will provide input on new hires and employee terminations. Will take part in the bi-weekly lead meetings, and will chair section meetings. Will be involved in employee schedule maintenance.

　　Requirements:

　　Satisfactory completion of formal ultrasound technology program in an AMA-approved school and successful completion of board registry by the ARDMS.Preferably a member of either MSS or WMSS.A minimum of one year experience in clinical ultrasound.Should have core knowledge in para professional health care and a working knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and ultrasound technology.Current BLS certification - Basic life support.ARDMS registration must me maintained.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

　　Interacts with radiologists to update protocols and communicates changes to all team members.

　　Interacts with management, radiologists and staff to assure quality and customer service is provided at highest levels possible.

　　Make recommendations for staffing adjustments based on workload.

　　Works on special projects as directed by supervisor or radiology manager.

　　Schedules and monitors all equipment for preventive maintenance and repair for their area.

　　Coordinates the training/orientation of new staff.

　　Notifies appropriate supervisory personnel of shortages of supplies, unusual problems and/or situations within their department.

　　Performance of diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound procedures using M-Mode Doppler and Real-Time on equipment from a variety of manufacturers in an efficient method.

　　Practice good sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination.

　　Follows department protocol in pre-exam procedures checking for previous exams, lab history when pertinent, and interviewing patient for health history and symptoms.

　　Identifies normal and abnormal pathology while scanning.

　　Completes all documentation appropriately and submits to radiologist for interpretation.

　　Maintains 10 continuing education credits a year in Ultrasound to maintain registry requirements and stay current with new developments in ultrasound diagnosis.

　　Consult with radiologist as needed to ensure most accurate diagnosis possible is provided from scan.

　　Identify supplies needing to be ordered, provide list to appropriate person with sufficient time to order using routine process.

　　Radiology systems problems solving skills: utilizing Radiology computer systems, software, and hardware.

　　Utilizing Radiology PACS and RIS systems

　　Consult with hospital staff and physicians regarding scheduling and preparation of patients.

　　Participates (as required) with In-service training programs, training of ultrasound and X-ray technologists, interns, education of patients, as well as professional staff.

　　Flexibility in terms of shift times, call time and work assignments.
