Job Description:
The purpose of the system engineer position is to synthesize and define complex electro-optical and electro-mechanical systems. Coordinate system level requirements and ensure that technical obligations are fulfilled.
Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project management and software development. Manages large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction. Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Makes significant improvements in processes, systems, or products. Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.
Essential Functions:
Systems Lead on a DoD Naval program for up to 15 systems and integration and test engineers
Lead and support the test and integration of products/systems
Synthesize and define System architecture, requirements, and interfaces for complex electro optical and RF solutions.
Coordinate system level requirements internally and among subcontractors and suppliers.
Work with Project Engineer, other engineers and other departments to ensure that all technical contractual obligations are fulfilled.
Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) development
Ensure adherence to Quality Systems Manual and applicable Standard Work Instructions.
Adhere to budget and schedule commitments supported Earned Value Management reporting.
Support Proposal and Business Development efforts including developing technical architectures, generating basis of estimates, and performing trade studies.
Perform engineering design analysis to establish validity of designs.
Prepare and review design documentation in accordance with contract requirements and/or internal standards.
Draft technical performance specifications and assist Purchasing Department with procurement of items as necessary
Leads technical analysis and design with customers and suppliers
Design or specify test procedures and test equipment and provide technical assistance to Technical Specialist or test personnel during testing of prototype and production hardware.
Support Production Floor for system integration and test
Conduct or coordinate system analyses and trade studies and complex design risk trade-off analysis.
Coordinate and lead design reviews of new or existing systems, prepare/present complex internal and external design reviews.
Capable of providing technical supervision and training/mentoring to lower level engineers.
Successful candidates meet eligibility requirements to access US classified information
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Requires comprehensive level knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with systems engineering experience.
In-depth knowledge of project management.
Experience leading a team/project/programs in Systems Engineering as a IPT, or Product Engineering
Experience with requirement management
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior systems engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior systems engineering experience
Abilty to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret Clearance, which requires US Citizenship
Preferred Additional Skills:
Prior DoD experience highly preferred
Knowledge of sensors interfaces and processing flow
Knowledge of image processing, AI and machine learning
Works in a typical office environment with exposure to light manufacturing environment
Light domestic and international travel environments – up to 10%
Software used: Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project, Atlassian Tools
Technical Software Used: Mathcad, MATLAB, DOORS, Cameo System Modeler, Cameo MagicDraw
The use of safety equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas
Must be able to sit or stand for up to nine hours
