Job Description:
We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer with experience leading and mentoring software development teams. This individual will be part of a team that is responsible for the requirements, design, development, and test of flight safety systems for airborne and space vehicles. This individual will support all phases of the software engineering lifecycle to produce solutions that satisfy a range of customer requirements.
Essential Functions:
Applies Software Engineering designs and principles throughout the software lifecycle.
Ability to define requirements and workflows that feed into working software components that meet technical, schedule, and design-to-cost goals.
Interfacing effectively with team members throughout the organization
Assists in the planning and execution of technical projects.
Internal Research and Development
Support bid and proposal activities including cost and schedule estimation.
Engineering support to Production and Delivered Products
Frequently responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees across the Company.
Frequently responsible for managing large, complex project initiatives.
Makes significant improvements in processes, systems, or products.
Provides inputs into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have a measurable impact on business or functional results.
Use of C to develop embedded software.
Working directly with Real-Time Operating Systems (e.g. RTEMS)
Writing low level software such as drivers and Board Support Packages (BSP)
Working directly with Communication Protocols such as Ethernet, RS422, and 1553
Working with sensors such as IMU and GPS
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar and 8 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate/Master’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 12 years of prior related experience.
4+years minimum experience with Windows and Linux development environments.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience with the LEON3 Processor
Experience with NI Test Stand for Test Automation
Experience with Subversion for source control
Knowledge of hardware design, circuits, schematics, & test equipment
