  Description

  UKG is seeking a dynamic and passionate lead full-stack engineer with expertise in Back-End Software development for one of our Workflow Teams. You will work within a global and distributed team to develop quality software aligned with product and company objectives and take part in building one of our next-generation platform products.

  The right candidate will have experience both in hands-on software development or systems engineering, as well as exposure to diagnosing and communicating difficult problems in either engineering or production environments. This role will require a significant breadth of both technical and non-technical skills and a creative, driven, and motivational attitude. You will be responsible for the technical leadership of the Product development Engineering team, a global team developing and delivering on a vision to proactively/reactively manage UKG product development, maintenance, resiliency, performance, and improvement in our products and our ability to own end-to-end delivery from an engineering perspective. You will be a key collaborator, leader, and influencer within our engineering culture, improving products and processes equally to increase customer satisfaction. Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Design and develop front end services for a SAAS product using Java and J2EE technologies

  • Design and develop REST based web services using Spring or Spring Boot.

  • Lead activities for decomposing product requirements into tasks and associated estimates.

  • Advise the team on backend technology concepts and best practices during the design process.

  • Collaborate and Participate in code and design reviews to ensure quality and conformance to product standards.

  Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science with 5-8 years of experience in a fast-paced environment, working through all phases of the software development lifecycle

  • Experience with Javascript, Angular 14, React JS, jQuery and other Java presentation technologies would be a plus.

  • Experience in engineering practices such as code refactoring, design patterns, design-driven development, continuous integration, building highly scalable applications with security

  • Experience with Cloud providers (e.g. GCP) and containerization (e.g. Docker)

  • Knowledge of data structures and common design patterns.

  • Developing REST based web services using Spring framework.

  • Must be proficient with creating and maintain postman collections.

  • Must be proficient in unit testing and test driven development.

  • Must be proficient with using mocking frameworks.

  • Must have knowledge of working with Hibernate.

  • Must have worked with GIT.

  • A good understanding of troubleshooting using logs and Linux based systems.

  • A good understanding of docker and Kubernetes is desirable.

  • Good knowledge of performance tuning in JavaScript is a must.

  • Prior experience with performance measurement tools like Dynatrace/Datadog would be a plus.
