Job Description:
The L3Harris Implementation Chief Engineer is a customer facing project engineering position focused on the technical oversight and coordination of the design, implementation, and testing of Land Mobile Radio wireless communications systems for Public Safety, Transportation and Utility Customers. This position ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems and subsystem solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints.
This role assumes project engineering ownership of large state wide, complex tier 1 programs after contract award including: final design and equipment selection, implementation and as-built documentation, factory and on-site installation and system optimization through delegation of tasks to appropriate project personnel. Project execution includes partnering with a Project Manager, Network Engineer, and other System Engineers to ensure complete project lifecycle integration. Must be able to successfully interact with customers, project teams, and delegate as well as accept project responsibilities. Must be able to implement projects within the assigned scope, cost, and schedule.
Job Responsibilities include leading technical engineering functions for the development of design documentation to include application descriptions, interface control documents, system design drawings, system integration, IP network configuration, and test plans in accordance with contractual requirements deliverables. This role requires frequent discussions with customers, consultants, vendors, subcontractors and other L3Harris personnel as necessary during project lifecycles. Additionally, technical planning, system parts ordering, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems is required. Analyses are performed at all levels of system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
The Lead Systems Engineer must have practical hands-on field experience in implementing complex IT and LMR systems.
Able to work within a cross-functional team environment. Self-starter with effective communication skills, both verbal and written (English). The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and have demonstrated the capacity to effectively foster team building within and beyond his/her work group. The successful candidate will possess shared Harris values of Integrity, Teamwork, Excellence, and Accountability.
Professional certifications (e.g. CCNA, CISSP, MCSE, RHCSE, Security+) are a plus
