  The Director of Purchasing is a high-energy, self-motivated, and results-oriented collaborator that will support the team, optimizing the function’s operations and supporting technologies. The individual is expected to find opportunities and drive initiatives to implement efficiencies through the vendor onboarding and procurement lifecycle.

  This position will work with diverse vendors and with the internal x-functions to collect and combine data to help the function create category dashboards and periodic reporting. This position will translate business requirements into projects, activities, and tasks to align to overall business strategy recommending new processes and ways of operating. The person will lead and develop a growing Purchasing Department and will ensure that the team is prepared to support a rapidly expanding business and organization. Responsibilities include vendor pricing and contract negotiation, developing and maintaining a vendor management program, and developing and tracking department KPIs to meet company objectives and maximize financial performance. The role will also provide oversight of the construction department’s Owner Furnished Contractor Installed (OFCI) procurement and General Contractor agreements.

  ESENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Establish, maintain and report on measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities to include but not limited to supplier performance, supplier quality, internal order placement performance, buyer activity levels, and purchasing cost savings.

  Negotiate long term national contracts to support multi-site procurement

  Strategically develop and implement commodity/supply chain strategies covering all commodities, services and supplier processes throughout the organization to deliver maximum value, leverage, and standardization.

  Establish and manage Operational Inventory Program to ensure operations has the proper equipment & material to support customer SLAs.

  Establish and maintain Vendor Management Program, including a Vendor screening process and Vendor performance review

  Negotiate commercial terms for vendor MSAs

  Manage and develop purchasing staff to support department initiates and processes

  Establish and maintain purchasing best practices procedures including but not limited to RFP process, bid leveling, ethics, etc.

  Oversight of Construction General Contractor and OFCI Equipment purchases made by the construction department

  Oversight of Vendor Managed Inventory Program

  Ensure that purchasing controls are established, enforced and maintained.

  Track, report, and drive cost saving efforts to maximize financial performance of the company.

  Develop and maintain vendor relationship

  Addresses issues (e.g. change orders, late deliveries, disputes, invoice accuracy, etc) with suppliers; investigates, responds and brings closure to suppliers, Buyer’s Agent, or other internal NTT GDC Americas, Inc. stakeholders.

  Work with construction to renegotiate, extend options, renew, and discontinue supplier framework agreements as required and issue equipment orders under those framework agreements.

  Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and capture industry best practice.

  Performs other duties as assigned.

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  Sourcing and Procurement processes

  SAP, iprocurement, and Purchasing Manager modules.

  Basic knowledge of Construction Materials & Data Centers

  Basic knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure

  Working knowledge of MS Windows / Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  Problem solving and critical thinking skills

  Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  Must demonstrate a working knowledge in best practice procurement processes, negotiating purchase order terms, conditions, and pricing, cost reductions, supplier qualification processes, vendor selection and account development, logistics, and sourcing.

  Must have overall knowledge of Data Centers.

  Able to work in a team environment. Even-tempered and able to work through conflict with others.

  Manages stress and/or fast pace effectively.

  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  What will make you a good fit for the role?

  EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or relevant field

  Minimum of seven years of procurement required; five years in a management role; five years in mission critical/data center preferred.

  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  Familiarity with construction sites and factory hazards and ability to navigate project sites safely and in control.

  Primarily walking, standing, and bending with some sitting.

  Able to hear and speak into a telephone.

  Close visual work on a computer terminal.

  Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

  Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

  WORK CONDITION

  Must be comfortable working in a highly critical, fast paced environment with shifting priorities.

  Must be available by phone during assigned work schedule and after hours for emergency situations.

  Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays and on-call support.

  SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  Periodic (est 10%) national travel to NTT jobsites, vendor facilities, and industry events

  This role is expected to be remote with an occasional need to be on-site in a shared space.

  Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.

  This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.

  NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $154,000 - $225,000.

  All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
