Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):
$33.946 - $43.802 - $53.657
The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Assists patients, staff and physicians as needed to maintain a high level of efficiency of operations and customer service while providing quality care to a designated patient population. The Lead Ortho Tech performs duties at an expert level in the operating room and clinic setting under the direction of the Orthopedic Surgeon. Assists the Supervisor and Patient Care Manager with the leadership and day-today organization of the technical and support staff.
Required Qualifications
Completion of orthopedic technology program or other equivalent program (such as military training program).
5 Years Full-time work experience in a hospital, clinic or office setting or as an independent contractor working directly in the care of orthopedics patients, and certified by NBCOT for no fewer than two years.

LeadershipNew Hires and Orientation - Participates in or completes initial screening interview and schedules final candidates with Patient Care Supervisor or Manager and physician for final hiring decision. Completes paperwork and submits training calendar and skills roster within 90 days. Oversees orientation of new employees to assure appropriate clinical performance and service delivery.Staff training and development - Assists in scheduling and organizing clinical and technical in-services, customer service inservices, mock codes, and pharmacy fairs. Provides ongoing clinical and service support and supervision.Corrective Action - Promptly brings to the attention of the supervisor or manager performance issues needing to be addressed. Works with Supervisor or Manager to follow corrective action process as delineated by Human Resources policy and procedure. Coaches and counsels as needed.Evaluations - Assists the patient care supervisor to communicate performance expectations to staff, assesses developmental needs and initiates action plans to address issues and build skills. Assists in the preparation, distribution and collection of pre-evaluation paperwork.Leadership - Consistently pro-active in team development and in problem-solving to meet department goals. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated proficiency in application of casts, splints and braces.
Knowledge of major and minor orthopedic surgical procedures and techniques, table set-up, patient positioning and sterile techniques.
Ability to articulate descriptions of orthopedic conditions bases on advanced understanding of anatomical structures and relationships with one another.
Advanced knowledge of theory and application of skin, skeletal and manual tractions.
Proper application of aseptic techniques in dressing changes, removal of sutures, staples, Steinman pins, K-wires, ability to set up surgical fields and draping in the operating room.
Interpretation of x-rays, identifying most fractures and dislocations.
Perform in the operating room environment in an expert manner as first and second assistant or scrub technician, under the direct supervision of a surgeon. Completion of Ortho Tech II checklist.
The ability to type 30 words per minute with 0-2 errors.
