The Lead Motor Engineer will work within the Rotating Equipment Services (RES) group as the lead responsible engineer over design, remanufacture, procurement, testing, and troubleshooting activities for high and medium voltage motors in the commercial nuclear industry. This will include regular collaboration with industry clients, suppliers, and Westinghouse staff at the Waltz Mill facility (technicians, project engineering, project management, and quality).
Duties and Responsibilities (in the order of priority):Advise Westinghouse shop technicians, project engineers, and test engineers for all aspects of large motor remanufacture at the Waltz Mill Service Center.Provide technical oversight for auxiliary motor service work at Waltz Mill, as well as support to other organizations (Westinghouse Parts Business (WPB) and Nivelles service center as required)Perform technical review of work instructions for motor remanufacture and testing at the Waltz Mill facility.Disposition non-conformances generated during procurement of parts or execution of motor remanufactureLead technical discussions with customers regarding various shop or field service projectsLead troubleshooting efforts for large motors in the RES Shop or with the field service personnelLead inspection walkdowns and generate inspection report and final service reports for motors processed through the Waltz Mill Service Center.Lead industry meetings and conferences as a Subject Matter Expert for high and medium voltage motors in the commercial nuclear industry, with an emphasis on RCP motors.Generate technical specifications and qualification documents for new materials or vendors
Who You Are:BS Engineering (mechanical or electrical). Masters Degree in Engineering is preferred, along with demonstrated education and working knowledge for both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines.10+years of relevant experienceExperience and working knowledge of Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) Reactor Coolant Pump (RCP) motors and Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) Primary Coolant Pump (PCP) motorsExperience in design, inspection, and troubleshooting of high and/or medium voltage motors mechanical components (brackets, bearings, coolers) and electrical components (windings, insulation systems, space heaters, RTD/TCs)Experience and working knowledge of medium voltage motors (horizontal and vertical) from legacy Westinghouse manufactureFamiliarity with motor manufacturing processes (rewinding, stator core restacking, VPI, brazing, electrical insulation testing, etc)Demonstrated experience leading a technical teamDemonstrated experience making technical decisions based on applicable standards and engineering judgementProficiency in motor testing and vibration analysisProficiency in interpreting engineering drawingsAbility to travel domestically for customer meetings or industry conferences (<10%)Preferred:3D Modeling (Solidworks, CAD, Inventor)Other experience and knowledge in rotating equipment (pumps, generators, hydrostatic seals)Working knowledge of equipment seismic qualification & analysis processesWorking knowledge of ASME Codes and StandardsWorking knowledge of Nuclear Safety Related RequirementsStrong communication & technical writing skills (English)
