Impacts departmental operations and responsible for material work order releases/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Work order management in accordance with the production schedule from release to completion, including shortage tracking, scrap replacements, and outside processes.
Relay material shortages to the sourcing and planning functions; communicate shortage impacts to the operations/production team and track to fulfillment.
Maintain a status of all work in process (WIP). Coordinate with the production supervisor/coach on upcoming work order releases to align with the production schedule and customer commitments.
Attend regular operating rhythms and be prepared to discuss material status, delinquency/delivery, and schedule changes.
Participate in and lead process improvement projects, value stream mapping events, and Kaizen events/projects.
Work in a cross-functional team to support the production personnel, identify issues & implement corrective action, and drive lean initiatives/improvements.
Fulfill role as Lead of Production Control (PC); responsible for PC standard work, standardizing PC processes through continuous improvement, and coordinating with team/technical resources to investigate and resolve transactional/flow issues.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in material management and/or material planning)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in material management and/or material planning

Desired Characteristics
APICS certification
Bachelor’s degree in Operations or Supply Chain Management
3+ years of experience in Manufacturing leadership
Experience with ERP (Oracle R12 preferred) and understanding of business KPI's around cost, inventory, and cash flow.
Ability to lead a team and influence others; strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to set priorities and execute schedule to achieve milestones/objectives
Strong oral and written communication skills
Focus driven to work through problems and implement a sustainable solution
