At Houston Methodist, the Lead Editor position is responsible for leading the content development of the Houston Methodist digital workplace (the intranet), working closely with the intranet program manager, editing and creating content, developing and executing training for content author's throughout the system, and serving as a coordinator and gatekeeper of content. The Lead editor will work with content authors across the organization and oversee what is published to ensure the content is up to date an aligned with the Houston Methodist brand and the overall intranet strategy. The lead editor will be responsible for the content management of the shared system pages. The Lead Editor approves/reviews intranet content, offers insight into content direction, troubleshoots issues and problem-solves when necessary, and works proactively to help both the team and stakeholders achieve goals and meet objectives.
The Lead Editor ensures that stakeholders' requests and the team's efforts align with Houston Methodist's overall digital workplace strategy(s).
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Oversees the work of content authors throughout the system
Collaborates closely with Intranet program manager to meet objectives of the digital workplace
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leads efforts to create and streamline intranet content processes, as well as develops and executes intranet strategy within assigned scope
Edits and writes content when necessary
Serves as gatekeeper for the intranet content and ensure content is updated in timely manner
Develops training and trains content authors to publish relevant content on the intranet
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leads standards development and creating best practice guidelines for internal users, and ensures content conforms to established standards
Acts as a brand steward, ensuring all messaging, copy and other content is within brand voice and editorial guidelines
Partners with management on policies and procedures, editorial guidelines and maintaining documentation (such as conflicts of interest statements, author's checklists, releases, contracts and requests to reprint)
Tracks the status and manages the deadlines of all projects and determines if and when the team can accept and complete new jobs
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Communication, English, Journalism, or related field.WORK EXPERIENCE

Detail-oriented expert in copy editing and copy writing, with an unerring ability to make writing better through meaningful revisions and fastidious corrections
Strong project management skills
Ability to work under pressure and balance many competing priorities
A thorough knowledge of contemporary editorial and intranet practices
