  The Cornell Law Library works as a cohesive unit within the Cornell University Library system and with deep integrations in Cornell Law School. We are an innovative law library focused on advancing the academic mission, vision, and values of Cornell University Library and using our expertise to advance legal education, research, and scholarship within and further to the mission of Cornell Law School. The Law Library employs professional librarians and staff with expertise working with legal materials and information resources who provide services such as legal research instruction, credit course teaching and curricular support, legal resource description, collection development, law library public services, law faculty services, and law library administration.

  The Opportunity

  Are you ready to join a dynamic team at the forefront of legal scholarship and research? We are seeking a skilled and organized individual for the position of Law Library Administrative Assistant. As a key player in our institution, you will provide crucial support to the Edward Cornell Law Librarian and librarian adjunct professors, contributing to the efficient functioning of the Law Library.

  Responsibilities:

  Administrative and Faculty Support: Be the backbone of support for the Edward Cornell Law Librarian by managing complex calendars, drafting and proofreading correspondences, faculty materials, and course content.Record Keeping and Workflow Management: Develop and maintain administrative records, documents, and workflows to ensure seamless operations. Attention to detail is paramount in this role.Meetings, Special Projects, and Events: Take charge of coordinating and organizing meetings, special projects, and events as needed. Collaborate with law research librarians on the execution of seminars and workshops. Your creativity and organizational skills will shine in making these initiatives a success. Assist with the preparation and presentation of a variety of legal research seminars and workshops, showcasing your expertise in the field.Website Management: Update and maintain the Law Library website, ensuring that information is accurate and relevant. Be the curator of information that keeps our digital presence vibrant.Program and Activity Support: Support library programs and activities, handling tasks such as processing expenses and reimbursements, coordinating travel, and ordering office supplies.Faculty Administrative Support: Serve as a faculty administrative assistant for teaching librarians, creating and maintaining Canvas course sites, researching, editing, and proofreading course materials, and coordinating with law library reserves for print and electronic course resources.Faculty Information Management: Update and maintain faculty information on websites, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  What We Need

  Associate's degree and 2 - 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.A courteous, friendly, mature, and professional customer service approach.Ability to work successfully in a team-oriented setting and to interact with diverse populations.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Proven ability to work independently, proactively, and deal effectively with multiple priorities on simultaneous projects; prepare program/project timelines and tasks; may be responsible for small projects.Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information such as student records, personnel, and recruitment information.Proficiency with standard office software, Outlook (email/calendaring), spreadsheets, word processing.Experience with or demonstrated ability to learn travel reimbursement software (Concur) and other Cornell software.Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

  This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Employees typically perform this role remotely 1 day per week and on-campus 4 days per week.
