Performs complex hardware and software installations, designspecifications for, development of, and modifications to complex DataCenter network communications, including various network and securitycomponents with multiple levels of network redundancy.
Assumes accountability of associated work products.
Confers with customers in high stress situations to troubleshoot complexsystems, end-user communication problems, and network hardware andsoftware problems utilizing various utilities and diagnostic tools suchas network monitoring systems including, but not limited to, NetScoutpacket analyzers, and OpManager.
Recommends actions to prevent further occurrences of the problem/issue.
Monitors trouble tickets to ensure Service Level Agreements areproviding break/fix services to agencies within listed time frames.
Escalates time sensitive trouble calls to senior staff and/orappropriate vendor for faster resolution time.
Serves as a technical project coordinator and analyst for design,development, and modification of highly complex network communicationssolutions for multi-tiered applications and server farm interactions.
Utilizes Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (IP), Qualityof Service (QoS), VLAN design, Domain Name Services (DNS), Dynamic HostConfiguration Protocol (DHCP), Network Security, Network Diagnostic andManagement Tool Integration, Traffic analyzers (Sniffers), Video overInternet Protocol, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Cloud Computing,and IP address management in performance of duties.
30% Meets with users to determine layout and specifications to design,develop, and modify complex network communications, including variousLAN components such as routers, firewalls, switches, intrusion detectionsystems, network security appliances, application load balancers,internet gateways, internet filtering, and cabling, etc.:
Performs complex network configuration and capacity planning.
Determines bandwidth needs, and hardware and software specifications.
Develops, documents, and implements network standards.
Develops Network Diagrams in Microsoft Visio and uses network discoverytools to keep Network Diagrams up to date.
Conducts tests and prepares analytical reviews of various settings in acomplex Data Center network environment.
Researches, analyzes, conducts, and coordinates in-depth documentedstudies related to network communication with recommendations tomanagement in support of procurement and development efforts.
Develops, implements, and maintains change control for modifications,incident responses and detailed architecture documentation and testingprocedures for management of the network environment.

25% Configures, tests, and maintains various make and models of LANswitches, routers, application load balancers, and network securitysystems such as Intrusion detection, Intrusion prevention, networkauthentication systems, and internet gateways:
Designs, installs, and maintains network cabling.
Implements, troubleshoots, and maintains network protocol configurationsof Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), VirtualLAN (VLAN), Virtual Private Network (VPN), Open Shortest Path First(OSPF), Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP),Network Address Translation (NAT), Port Address Translation (PAT), Layer2 switching and Layer 3 routing.
Reviews and implements vendor recommendations for firmware and softwareupgrades on network devices.
Performs setup and installs hardware and software at various locations
10% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT)field:
Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars,and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on ITproducts, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.
