POSITION SUMMARY:

　　The Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) of the University of Rochester is a unique national resource for research in science and technology focusing on using lasers to initiate high energy density physics conditions. LLE is currently seeking an Operational Section Leader to join the Facility Operations team to support management of the Omega Laser Facility Frontend Laser Systems Group.

　　RESPONSIBILITIES :

　　Team Leader - supervision of 6 technicians

　　Complete training as a watchstander in the frontend laser systems group and support shot operations in this capacity

　　Ensure operational readiness for the frontend systems

　　Provide on-call support as needed to facilitate efficient troubleshooting efforts

　　Oversee day-to-day management of sources operations including shift assignment, maintenance oversight, consumables procurement, maintenance contract management, and contractor scheduling

　　Monitor and analyze existing performance metrics, review reliability and maintenance performance data and make recommendations

　　Develop new metrics focused on increasing system reliability and efficiency

　　Prepare reports and presentations communicating current system performance and capability

　　Author and review procedures for shot and maintenance operations

　　Work with engineering staff to develop tools and utilities necessary for efficient operations.

　　QUALIFICATIONS :

　　B.S. Degree in technical field, technical management, or equivalent experience

　　Proficient with MSOffice Suite and Matlab (or similar) code development

　　High reliability and attention to detail

　　Strong communication skills suitable for leading a team-based environment

　　Pay Range

　　Pay Range: $58,800 - $82,300 Annually

　　The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
