HBC is located within the College of Medicine and is the only Regional Blood Center owned and operated by a University in United States.The Hoxworth Blood Center is recruiting a full-time (100% FTE) Laboratory Coordinator in the Components Laboratory. The incumbent will coordinate the activities of the lab (i.e., perform and monitor studies and/or quality control/quality assurance). If you're a detail-oriented individual with experience in supply inventory and quality control activity, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of others, then we invite you to apply for a position at Hoxworth Blood Center.Essential FunctionsManage supply inventory and quality control activity for a designated lab or unit.Develop daily lab/staffing schedules.Work with management to perform/arrange for maintenance contract on equipment and maintain accurate records.Maintain SOP manuals and/or initiate new procedures.Provide training to technician staff on equipment and proper techniques.Develop and maintain a database for all research customers, order requests, shipping and billing information, and monthly distribution spreadsheet to track revenues.Communicate appropriately to staff, donors, students, external departments and others as needed. Answer technical and medical questions when appropriate.Assign work; ensure proper workflow of the unit; act as lead worker.Perform related duties based on departmental need.
