Overview	The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics. In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Students also have access to a robust program of applied research and outreach hosted by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station laboratories, farms, business incubators, and marine stations throughout the state.
Posting Summary	Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Lab Technician for the Rutgers Marine Field Station (RUMFS) within the Department of Marine & Coastal Sciences (DMCS).Among the key duties of the position are the following: Manages lab and field operations under the general direction of the Principal Investigator (Grothues) for several research projects. Provides a wide variety of operational, research, and administrative support services, and will require coordination and management of multiple data collection efforts. This position is dependent on continued sufficient grant funding.

　　Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience	Requires a high school/vocational school education or equivalent with coursework completed in the relevant science area(s) and one year of research study experience. An equivalent amount of college-level study in an appropriate science curriculum may be substituted for the experience.
Certifications/Licenses	Must have or be willing to obtain small boat operator's certification and possess a NJ Driver's license. Successful completion of the Rutgers' Defensive Driving Course.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities	Requires a practical understanding and a working knowledge of basic scientific techniques. Familiarity with MSQL, R. MS Office, and advanced Excel functions. Experience with small boat handling. Requires the ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats. Must be able to communicate effectively. Will be required to participate in required occupational health and safety programs.
Preferred Qualifications	Experience with small boat handling and larval fish identification preferred.
Equipment Utilized	MSQL, R, MS Office, and advanced Excel functions, YSI Environmental dataloggers, various fish sampling gears (seines, nets, trawls).
Physical Demands and Work Environment	May be required to work long hours in sometimes inclement weather and in harsh field conditions. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Special Conditions	Regular workweek may include evening and/or weekend work.
