Amazon Web Services (AWS) internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 consecutive weeks during summer. By applying to this position, your application will be considered Arlington, VA.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
As a Junior Systems Development Engineer you will work with a team on-site and remotely building AWS Services for AWS and AWS Customers. Jr. Systems Development Engineers are “Builders”, developers of unique technology solutions to address business and customer problems. You will build internal and external services within the AWS software systems and be responsible for understanding the operational impact of changes.
Jr. Systems Development Engineers will be paid hourly, working part-time hours (16 hours / week) in the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters and working full-time hours (40 hours / week) during the Summer. This position will start in the Spring 2024 semester. Below is an example schedule to illustrate the program structure:
Spring 2024 - Part-time hours (16 hours / week)
Summer 2024 - Full-time hours (40 hours / week)
Fall 2024 - Part-time hours
Spring 2025 - Part-time hours
At the conclusion of the program, based on your performance and business needs, you may be offered a permanent full-time position to begin after your graduation date.

Basic Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or higher program from an accredited college or university, majoring in Computer Science with a conferral date between April 2025 – June 2025.
• Familiarity with Linux, using the command line and basic administration.
• Familiarity with at least one of; Python or Ruby or Bash/shell scripting or Java or Go.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with development depth in object-oriented programming (OOP) and web frameworks.
Expertise in the utilization of Amazon Web Services
Active Security Clearance (secret or higher)
