Position Summary: The HHC BI Analytic Developer/Analyst works under the direction of the ITS Analytics Enablement Manager and is responsible for the design, build, testing, implementation, training, and support of operational and analytical solutions based on detailed specifications. The BI Analytic Developer/Consultant is a key member of the Analytics Enablement team and is responsible for the creation, documentation, support of visualizations and other analytic solutions of high complexity. They work closely with customers to gather report requirements and ensure proper testing/validation. They document specifications for visualizations that are created and/or modified. They utilize knowledge of database design, data structure and modeling to deliver on system initiatives, regulatory reporting, and clinical and operational solutions. Attention to detail is a critical skill for this position. Successful candidates enjoy helping other users learn and adopt usage of the application. They will work closely with system vendors, consultants, and technical services of any given affiliate to ensure development, testing and implementation meet user specifications and operational needs. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following: Development: ØMeeting with decision makers, system owners and end users to define data requirements & goals ØLead discussions with business partners to identify functional requirements resulting in development of system specifications and Tableau applications ØDevelop dashboard wireframes and design requirements based on discussion with an understanding of technical and visual design considerations ØDevelop, implement and maintain Tableau or other analytical dashboards to support business and IT groups across the Digital organization ØWrite and optimize SQL queries ØDeveloping rich interactive visualizations integrating various reporting components from multiple data sources ØCoordinating and performing in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new processes and other post-implementation support. ØDebug, monitor, and troubleshoot issues during the test and post implementation phases. Data & Governance: ØProvide recommendations on the data mart structures which support analytical applications ØCommunicating data structure changes, enhancements, and modifications verbally or through written documentation to data governance team for implementation ØPerform data modeling based on multiple data sources ØAware and able to use data preparation tools for profiling and data transformations. ØUnderstanding common data sources and data available on the systems available for projects and self-service power users. ØUnderstanding the data governance process and integration with data governance domain. Business: ØTransforming business needs into actionable visualizations in analytic solutions for use by internal and external stakeholders ØUnderstanding of healthcare terms and processes and Epic applications. Best Practices: ØProvide best practices and industry standards to guide BI strategies development ØEnsure a consistent design and/or approach for analytics across the business areas ØUnderstanding of visual design principles ØCreate or update design documentation according to team and standards ØEffectively communicates with team members and business stakeholders ØOptimize solutions with a focus on usability, performance, flexibility, testability, and standardization Server Site Admin: Ø Partner with the colleagues to develop standards for hosting Tableau services/application Ø Ensure application stability and performance by monitoring existing production systems to ensure they are working correctly and that they reconcile with the system of record Ø Publish dashboards and data sources to Tableau Server managing access, user security, refreshing of Tableau extracts Ø Create and manage the site’s users and groups Ø Assign permissions to allow users (groups) to access the content. Ø Promote and certify content and measure the use of analytics within their site. Ø Review daily the production environment for failed jobs and correct. Ø Apply good developer habits by cleaning up or archiving TEST server content. Skill Level: ØProvide expertise on how to use Tableau and other analytic tools in performing statistical Analysis ØShow Intermediate to Advanced Development use of features ØLeverage advanced functionality (parameters, actions, tooltip modifications, API, ) to create meaningful and industry appropriate analytical dashboards ØUnderstanding and use of Healthcare data or experience with Epic reporting capabilities (Workbench, Radar, Slicer Dicer etc) ØUnderstand and provide business statistical metrics and calculations ØUnderstand cloud-based platforms like Google and use of Data Prep and BigQuery User Community: ØProvide technical support in defining a business partner approach to self-service ØCreate template for Dashboards/Reports to be used by other Analysts and End Users ØMentoring of the business users on processes and procedures and best practices ØParticipate in User Community events or present and create content for User community events ØProvide end-user training ØCreate content for use of repeatable processes or training for end users. Support: Ø Support production environments (Tableau, etc) Ø Handle tickets in a timely manner and according to team SLA Ø Communicate often with Customer to provide updates, ensure understanding, and to set expectations Ø Document all activity related to tickets that includes blockers and next steps Ø Provide ad-hoc data analysis and support to business functions Education: · Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Analytics, or related discipline Experience: · 4 - 6 years of relevant experience developing and training in and using Tableau (Desktop, Prep Builder, Tableau Server) in a large healthcare system developing operational and/or analytical dashboards in a complex healthcare environment. · Demonstrated proficiency in SQL; Oracle PL/SQL required for Epic Clarity and T-SQL for Epic Caboodle and internal SQL databases. · Experience with other analytic tools and platforms (ie Tableau Cloud, Google Bigquery, Google Data Prep, Looker Data Studio, Informatica EDC and Axon) a plus. .
