The Town of Falmouth IT Department has recently been restructured, andwe are currently recruiting team-oriented IT professionals for threefull-time positions ranging from Tier 1 (entry)-level to Tier 3-level.The IT Systems Administrator is a Tier 3-level, exempt position withopportunities for professional development and advancement within thedepartment. This position works 40 hours per week, Monday throughFriday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with an occasional need to assist withoff-hour scheduled maintenance and emergencies. The IT SystemsAdministrator configures, engineers, and maintains the Town?s computersystems, cyber security, physical and virtual networks, and data centersand performs other duties in support of IT department goals. Thisposition manages the network servers and technology tools; ensuressecurity through access controls, backups, and firewalls; coordinates orcompletes the creation of user accounts and workstations; creates,supports, and manages access rights to Microsoft 365 and Office 365applications; restores deleted data; and troubleshoots, diagnoses, andresolves problems with VPN software and multi-factor authentication.Other duties include but are not limited to actively monitoring servicehealth, including Azure tools, and taking or coordinating appropriateaction when needed; establishing, maintaining, and supporting individualstorage (OneDrive), shared sites (SharePoint), and teleconferencing(Teams); managing and troubleshooting Group Policy Object (GPO), printerassignments, and the Card Access Control system; managing OS-levelmonitoring and support for various operating systems, including Windows,RHEL, and other Linux platforms; and managing the implementation,configuration, and maintenance of the VMware virtualization platform,including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSphere Replication, and other relatedproducts. This position also installs and configures software andhardware; upgrades systems as new releases and models become available;works with the IT Support Specialist I and II to troubleshoot andresolve advanced helpdesk tickets as needed; and ensures that the properdocumentation is in place and kept up to date for the systems andapplications used by the IT department and end users. This positiontravels to offsite Town departments to perform these functions asrequired. Candidates must have a working knowledge of storage andvirtualization, including desktop virtualization, cloud-basedapplication management, windows active directory, cybersecurity, backup,and disaster recovery. Applicants should also have a working knowledgeof VMware vSphere, HPE SimpliVity, Horizon View, Office 365, StorageSystems, Veeam Backup, and Replication, as well as all aspects ofWindows Active Directory. The ideal candidate can work independently butenjoys being part of a team and contributing to the goals of the ITdepartment. The successful applicant has excellent customer serviceskills and is a patient problem solver with advanced IT knowledge,skills, and abilities and an interest in continuing professionaldevelopment. Minimum requirements include an associate degree ininformation systems management, engineering, or related field,bachelor?s degree preferred, and five years or more of responsibleexperience in an information technology environment with projectmanagement experience preferred; or any equivalent combination ofeducation, training or experience which demonstrates possession of therequired knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform theessential functions of the position.
