The IT Project Manager role will provide support to the US DOE Office of Legacy Management IT Projects team. The role will leverage their knowledge and experience to participate on teams to develop key new IT capabilities or to modernize and enhance existing capabilities, artifacts, and processes. The role will focus on IT projects, hardware and software configuration management and risk management. This position will effectively collaborate and contribute to a cross-functional team with software engineers, data managers, network & system administrators, and other technical & non-technical staff.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
Leads or contributes to the overall design, selection, installation, modification, and operation of an information systems capability.
Understands and applies Project Management practices.
Follows standard procedures for a particular set of applications.
Develops documentation and delivers training in the fundamentals of various applications.
Scheduling expertise and cost management.
Authority to complete assignments according to standard operating procedures; Exercises own judgement in proposing a solution for handling non-standard assignments.
Developing cost estimates, project plans and execution of projects.
Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor's Degree: Major Computer Science or similar and a minimum of 7 years of relatable experience.
Developed communication skills, both written & verbal. Able to translate technical jargon to simple business language.
Understands and applies Project Management methodologies and practices.
General working knowledge of Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Authoring or providing input to project charters, project plans, and project schedules.
Participating in project coordination and management.
Developing, editing, and formatting job aids and templates.

REQUIRED Software Proficiency:
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Visio©, Word©, Excel©, PowerPoint©, Project or equivalent project management platform.REQUIRED Technical Knowledge and skills:
Possess a technical understanding of relationships, dependencies and requirements of hardware and software components.
Knowledgeable in preparing project plans and providing coordination in the analysis, design, and installation of software and/or systems.
General knowledge of a project and systems development lifecycle, configuration management, IT Governance, and risk management frameworks.
Fundamental communication skills, both written and verbal.
Eagerness and aptitude to learn.
Accept challenges with a positive attitude.
Adapting to circumstances and overcoming issues.
Complete assignments according to instructions provided.
Desired Qualifications, Experience or Proficiencies:
PMP or other PMI Certification
ITIL
Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint
Experience with Primavera P6, Earned Value Management
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
Knowledge of Project Lifecycle
REQUIRED:
No clearance requirement but the contract and/or the site requires US Citizenship to be approved for access. (includes NACI / T1, MRPT, CAC):
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $78,556.56 – $99,462.74 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
