Role Summary Oversee warehouse inventory to ensure adequate product available for customers while also ensuring product dates will rotate timely. Key Relationships All vendors, customers, and team members related to Burris Logistics Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise all inventory team members and provides guidance to any others working within area of responsibility Key Responsibilities ● Embody the Burris Philosophy of “Make It Happen, Get It Right, I am Burris” ● Regular and consistent attendance ● Supervise, train and mentor team members ● Actively support the Burris Culture on a daily basis by: ○ Interacting in a cooperative and professional manner with other team members, supervisors, customers and vendors even in difficult situations ○ Utilize open, two-way adult-to-adult communication ○ Supports achievement of company business plans, strategies and objectives by coordinating the use of shared resources with other departments and locations ○ Ensuring tasks and documentation are completed neatly, completely, accurately and timely ○ Being cooperative, flexible and open to change to ensure a “win/win” outcome ○ Promote exceptional (WOW) Customer Service by building and maintaining effective communication with carriers, vendors internal and external customers in order to develop innovative solutions to meet customer needs and ensure product quality and services are never compromised ○ Providing the safest workplace possible where individuals feel a personal sense of responsibility for their safety and the safety of team mates, to include safe operation of equipment, reporting maintenance needs or unsafe practices, following GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards in warehouse locations, and maintaining a neat and clean work environment free of hazards. Working safely is a condition of employment at Burris Logistics ● Responsible to monitor and maintain inventory count is correct for product and product is available in sufficient quantities for customers without too much date lag time in the warehouse, ensuring quality of product is never compromised ● Responsible to monitor and maintain adequate quantities of uniform and freezer wear is available for team members ● Ensure all pallets are tagged and recorded appropriately ● Must ensure the accurate location of product and protection of the same is adhered to by all employees ● Help control the OSHA Incident Rate (OIR) and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTI) by monitoring sanitation, safe working conditions, ensuring safety policies are followed, holding pre-shift meetings and proper usage of material handling equipment ● Monitor for GMP and food safety guidelines ● Understand the Emergency Procedures, ensure they are accessible and participate in update reviews ● Check computerized time/attendance on a daily basis to verify team members have the proper time clock punches in the system ● Ensure all team member forms for Time Adjustment, PTO requests, etc. are coordinated for staffing purposes and turned into HR timely for processing in the correct pay period ● Works closely with Operations Manager to maximize employee performance and improve employee/management relations ● Ensures all paperwork (logs, operational documents) are completed and turned in on a daily and weekly basis as required ● Collect/analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement and solutions ● Understanding budget requirements, and identifying opportunities for cost control to include controlling wage expenses through shift scheduling and reduction of overtime ● Certified to operate and train all team members on required MHE ● Participate in the hiring process to include interviews, selection, etc. ● Responsible for department onboarding, retention and training ● Provides performance reviews for team members ● Provides input to manager regarding promotions and terminations ● Creating an environment of accountability for individual and team performance through analyzing and communicating metrics ● Crosstrain in all inventory team positions to stay current on duties, training and reaching minimum productivity levels Education/Experience ● High school diploma or GED. College coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience preferred ● Warehouse experience preferred ● Supervisory experience in a warehouse environment preferred ● Experience operating Material Handling Equipment preferred Skills & Qualifications ● Ability to remain calm and focused while prioritizing requests from multiple sources ● Ability to maintain and ensure confidentiality of team member and company information ● Ability to apply strong math skills that result in identification of opportunities and justify action plan recommendations ● Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback, coaching, and counseling ● Accuracy and attention to detail ● Able to read, write, speak and understand English ● Ability to read and understand label data ● Ability to read small print on packaging and paperwork, with or without corrective lenses ● Ability to utilize good hand-eye coordination and depth perception to operate forklift, reach truck, and HiLo safely and accurately ● Ability to take directions using the headset selection system (such as VoCollect) ● Ability to work at elevated heights while wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as fall protection harnesses) ● Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include nights, weekends and holidays ● Ability to utilize equipment for the job safely and accurately after training (such as computer, handheld tracker, copiers, scanners, printers, radio headsets, forklift, reach truck, etc.) Physical Demands Physical Demands continued ● Independently lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally ● Able to sit, stand, walk bend, squat on a frequent to continual basis in a refrigerated warehouse environment ● Able to grasp, reach, push or pull (such as boxes of product, or a hand truck) on a frequent basis ● Able to step up onto and down from equipment as required by task (such as forklift, reach truck, etc.) ● Ability to reach above shoulder level frequently ● Ability to build pallets up to 6 feet tall with case weights up to 50 pounds ● Endurance for continuous, fast paced work ● Able to adjust to fluctuating temperatures and withstand freezing temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit ● Ability to work in a noisy warehouse environment ● Able to wear and communicate through headsets for long periods of time as required by location ● Able to work while wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as steel-toed protective footwear, harness, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, insulated clothing, etc) ● Ability to handle and physically be near products which may contain food allergens (such as fish, shellfish, peanuts, etc.)
In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $52,000.00.
