  Description: The position of Interviewing Clerk is a paraprofessional position assigned to the Office of Economic Self-Sufficiency with primary responsibility for reviewing applications to collect demographic information and/or provide information and referral services. This position is ideal for someone who has excellent computer/data entry skills, a high degree of organizational skills and enjoys the challenge of tight deadlines.

  Location: Fort Pierce, Okeechobee, Port St. Lucie, Vero Beach

  Annual Salary: $32,700 annually.

  Internal salary appointments are determined according to DCF Salary policy.

  Typical duties:

  • Determines eligibility for expedited food assistance services;

  • Explains eligibility to applicants and recipients applying/receiving public assistance; • Enters client data into database based on intake of caller information;

  • Maintains necessary files and records;

  • Completes general clerical duties including using computer to input data of clients who are applying for public assistance benefits;

  • Answers phones;

  • Uses photocopy machine, scanner and other office equipment;

  • Conducts application registration;

  • Schedules appointments;

  • Performs intake interviews;

  • Conducts statewide clearance and reconciles any discrepancies on all household members;

  • Maintain office email accounts and serves as clerical backup for units.

  Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma or its equivalent and two years of clerical or public contact experience. College education from an accredited institution or vocational/technical training can substitute at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter or 720 class room hours for each year of the required experience.

  • Ability to speak/read/write Spanish/Creole/French or other foreign language may be considered in the selection process as determined by Agency need at time of interview and/or selection.

Background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for State and Federal criminal records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and may include local criminal history checks through local law enforcement agencies.
