Job Summary:
Lead the Quality Management System (QMS). Support the creation and deployment of a business-wide quality strategic plan. Develop and institutionalize quality improvement metrics and initiatives that facilitate establishment of a total quality culture while ensuring compliance with applicable standards. Provide technical and functional leadership to Quality personnel and indirect guidance to all Lycoming team members.
Position Responsibilities:
Represent the Quality function and lead successful compliance with and improvement of the QMS.
Experience in dealing with the FAA and familiar with FAA rules and regulations.
Responsible for direct / indirect budget, staffing and day-to-day management of Quality function.
Plan, coordinate, direct and successfully transfer ownership of programs designed to ensure significant process quality improvements.
Provide technical expertise for total quality concepts, tools, metrics and initiatives.
Should have extensive knowledge of ISO 9001/ AS9100 standards and systems implementation experience.
Identify and implement best practices that will accelerate institutionalization of the total quality culture while successfully accomplishing key business objectives.
Communicate the status of the QMS and of total quality improvement initiatives to all levels of the organization.
Will oversee and control Quality Assurance activities and develop and implement department goals, objectives and systems to ensure achievement of organizational objectives.
Evaluate current procedures and practices for accomplishing department objectives and develop and implement improved procedures and practices.
Facilitate and lead team efforts to establish and monitor customer/supplier relations, supports strategic planning and deployment initiatives, and helps develop measurement systems to determine organizational improvement.
Develop and implement strategies for organizational improvement.
Qualifications
Qualifications - External
Position Requirements:
B.S. degree in a technical discipline and 5-7 years’ experience in a manufacturing or quality-engineering environment. Master’s degree in business or management preferred.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Experience working in a union environment preferred.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing and quality processes.
A working knowledge of FAA regulations.
Ability to respond effectively and prioritize sensitive inquiries.
License and Certification Requirements:
Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
Airframe and Powerplant License preferred.
