This team is working to manage distributed energy resources to bring a higher level of stability to the grid and grow the reliability of energy delivery. This position is embedded with our DERO Data Science team, which develops Machine Learning modules for DERO to enable utilities to monitor residential electric vehicle (EV) charging and manage holistic residential EV charging programs at scale.Duties & ResponsibilitiesData Analysis of moderate-sized data sets (10s of GB)Review and analyze data from production machine learning systems, and explore methods to improve algorithms to be more performativeCollaborate with team to integrate other data sources into our machine learning system.Support product planning meetings and learn the process of product development.Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, product line managers and stakeholdersGive internship summary presentation and recommendations for team during final week.Duration: 10 weeks, Summer 2024Required Skills & ExperienceEducation: Enrolled in a related accredited bachelor's degree program (preference: statistics, data science, software engineer)Ability to code in Python at an intermediate levelExperience with statistical methods and data analysisExposure to machine learning via classes, independent projects or work experienceProfessional workplace communication skillsAvailable to work 40 hours per week, for 10 weeks during summer 2024 (target start May/June, internship concludes August/September, depending on student academic schedule)Available to work hybrid schedule, 2-3 days in office at Itron headquarters in Liberty Lake, WA, and flexibility to work remotePreferred Skills & ExperienceRelated internship or work experienceEnrolled in a related master's degree program (preference: statistics, data science, software engineer)Understanding of power systemsThe successful candidate's starting wage will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.Washington State: The base hourly wage is $15.38 - $34.62Itron is committed to building an inclusive and diverse workforce and providing an authentic workplace experience for all employees.
