The opportunity
The Material Handler II role includes all tasks of a Warehouse Technician I as well as the duties & responsibilities outlined below, which align with the warehouse site and rotation schedule. This role will accurately and efficiently process tasks related to material movement within our warehouse’s, using required material handling equipment to safely execute tasks.
How you’ll spend your day
Material Handler I Role:
• Pick batch orders and transfers to other sites
• Putaways
• Loading trucks for all outbound orders (customer, plant transfers)
• Replenishment (30 Novo only)
• Inventory Review (Stouffville and Hood only)
• Sampling (Stouffville & Hood only)
• Perform daily cycle counts
• Additional Warehouse Activities
• Organize non-inventory
• Organize empty pallets
• Flipping pallets as required (CHEP; Pine; Plastic)
• Wrapping pallets
• Manage Packaging/Manufacturing returns
• Picking samples
• Monitor warehouse capacity
• Maintain operation of material handling equipment as required (including batteries)
Receiving of all supplies, equipment and inventory material
• Delivery appointments
• Support inbound delivery appointment scheduling
• Coordinate deliveries as per due dates.
• Unloading of all incoming materials from carriers
• Operating lift trucks
• Checking for damages
• Confirming shipment quantities
• Inspect and verify all incoming goods
• Confirm actual quantities versus invoices or other documents
• Note any discrepancies / damages and advise appropriate department
• Documentation
• Recording of manual records
• Update system
• Forward and file appropriate documents
• Preparation of shipments received
• Label all necessary cases / containers / drums
• Transfer goods to appropriate area
• Outbound freight
• Loading of customer orders to appropriate carriers
• Confirm freight / pallets being loaded
International / US / 3rd Party Shipments (30 Novo & Hood only)
• Pick and stage order
• Prepare documentation
• Verify order and documentation accuracy
• Load shipments for transport
Support Destruction Order (DO) requirements
• Coordinate DO’s for processing
• Pick DO’s and tag and stage in designated staging area
• For bulk DO’s, dump bulk from plastic drums/bins to fiber drums and tag and stage in designated staging area
• Support loading of DO’s on destruction company truck/trailer
• Complete all required documentation including manifests and Bill of Lading
• Update ERP system once DO is picked up by destruction company
Warehouse Technician SME
• Fully trained and fluent with all Warehouse Technician tasks
• Support on-the-job training of Warehouse Technician tasks for new employees and/or refresher training
• Support site tours providing details of Warehouse functions and tasks
• Support reviews and updates of Warehouse SOP/WI and Standard Work
• Support review and implementation of OPEX ideas through Idea Management
Other duties as assigned
Your experience and qualifications
Required: High School; Preferred: Canadian Accredited College Diploma in Science or related discipline
2+ years previous Warehouse/Distribution experience, and 1+ year previous Receiving experience; Preferred: 1 year of relevant experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Product Development or Production (Stouffville & Hood only)
Licensed Operator requirements (Counter-Balance, Fork-Lift, Pallet Truck, Turret Truck)
Certificate Transportation Dangerous Goods
Demonstrated knowledge of SOP’s, GMP’s and EHS procedures including OH&S Act & WHMIS is preferred.
Proficiency working knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Email); ERP Oracle; Trackwise; OPEX
