The position offers the opportunity to apply engineering (civil, chemical, and environmental) academic knowledge to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. The position is full-time (40 hours/week) for approximately 13 to 15 weeks during the summer of 2024. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support office staff with execution of detailed design packages for industrial, municipal, and remedial water and wastewater treatment projects;Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools;Technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;Follow instructions and interact with engineers, geologists, office administrative staff, CADD operators (draftsmen), contractors and construction personnel; andPotential for fieldwork such as wastewater, soil, and groundwater sampling, stormwater inspections, and drilling and contractor oversight.Local travel or driving to project sites as needed.
Education and Licensure
Currently registered in a Bachelor's degree program for civil, chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering at an ABET accredited university. (required)Currently registered in a Master's degree program for civil, chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering at an ABET accredited university. Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). (required)Experience with AutoCAD and database software. (preferred)Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, and problem-solving skills. (required)Ability to perform field work requiring overnight travel, which may last 1-2 weeks per assignment. (required)Willingness to work extended hours (up to 10-12 hours per day) as part of a team during field work assignments. (required)Valid U.S. driver's license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites. (required)
