Michael Baker International is seeking to hire a Full Time Interior Design Associate II to work out of our Moon Township, PA office or fully REMOTE. The Interior Designer Associate will balance creativity and technical expertise to design functional and innovative spaces for a broad range of project types including clients that are local, national, and international. The candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate about Interior Design and will support the Interior Design project team with development for career growth. The current project focus is of expanding Federal, Department of Defense (DoD), and international project opportunities, along with market-driven diversification including Healthcare, Aviation, Commercial, Transit, and Adaptive Re-Use.
RESPONSIBILITIES* Support interior design department and their efforts on all project phases including programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation and construction administration* Work in multi-disciplinary, collaborative design teams with architects, interior designers, and building systems engineers* Work independently under supervision of lead interior designer while adhering to budget, scope, and deadlines* Engage in space planning, selection of finishes and furnishings of interior environments with attention to architectural, engineering, sustainability, ergonomic, constructability, business-use, and cost factors* Prepare and assemble presentations, narratives, and reports* Select and specify furniture, finishes and equipment (FF&E) utilizing database programs for documentation* Develop interior finish concepts, selections of finishes and documentations of specifications* Demonstrate creative problem-solving, organizational skills, and a good understanding of construction documents, detailing, and constructability* The successful candidate must demonstrate creative problem-solving, organizational skills, strong BIM-focused production management capabilities, and a thorough understanding of construction documents and constructability.* Understands Building Information Modeling (BIM) Process specific to assigned Interiors project scope of work and client requirements.* Understands Interior Design discipline Revit libraries and builds upon library families and library management.* Manages submissions and compilation of drawing documentation. (i.e., drawing index, PDF bookmarks, client sheet data, etc.)* Maintains Revit model health and performs clash detection, submissions, file exchanges, and reports via Navisworks and BIM360* Preparation of construction documents and proposal documents* Create documentation such as presentation drawings, binders, and color boards* Able to manage working on numerous projects simultaneously with multiple staff members* Possess good oral and written communication skills and interact effectively with other staff* Focus on adherence to BIM/CAD standards and project/file management procedures
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS* Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from an accredited university and 6+ years of relevant experience, including demonstrated success in the commercial Interior Design field with a range of project experience indicating the design and documentation of architectural/interiors projects* Familiarity in documenting FF&E specifications and managing all aspects of the FF&E process working with clients and vendors.* General knowledge of building codes and standards* Demonstrated Building Information Modeling (BIM) [Autodesk Revit Architecture]/AutoCAD proficiency* Demonstrated Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook/Access) proficiency required* Design talent, graphic presentation and effective verbal communication skills are essential* Ability to work in "Cloud" base platforms and shared multi-discipline operations* Experience using Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and InDesign* Rendering software (Revit/Enscape, 3DMax, Rhino, Vray etc.) experience desirable* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are important for success* Experience in Federal sector, Department of Defense a plus, not required* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to articulate ideas, both verbally and in writing; personable and outgoing in work relationships, both externally and internally; highly precise, detailed, and self-organized* Candidate will be encouraged to pursue NCIDQ certification to advance within the department* Provide a link to an online portfolio or provide sample projects with application
COMPENSATIONThe salary range for this position is $57,569-$90,671 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
