BDB San Diego is looking for a talented Instrumentation Tech I to join our team!
The Instrumentation Tech I will be responsible for providing on-site customer and operations support to internal BDB San Diego customers. This includes, but is not limited to installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair service of diagnostic and general laboratory equipment and instruments.
This position may at times require after-hours, holiday and weekend support depending on business needs

Responsibilities:
Candidate will routinely perform calibration, preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of laboratory equipment.Routinely develops, executes, and documents validations or approval testing related activities in a timely manner.Must possess a moderate understanding of calibration terminology, calibration principles, including equipment, process & calibration specifications.Must be able to read, understand and work from technical manuals, S. O. P's & schematics.Must possess exceptional technical writing skills and be able to develop, review & revise departmental procedures as required.Must have the ability to execute moderate to complex projects with limited supervision.Technician will be Responsible for representing Instrumentation in a professional and positive manner to internal and external customers, vendors, and other groups within the company at all levels.Required to assist in the education of end users on basic calibration principles and requirements and recommend adequate preventive maintenance activities.Perform basic record keeping and data management activities such as entering equipment history records, running reports, and verification of data entered.Experience with system databases such as Blue Mountain Regulatory Assay Manager (BMRAM), SAP, Microsoft Access, Project, PowerPoint & Excel.Perform all related maintenance activities in a manner consistent with department policies and company requirements.Assist with Equipment inventory reconciliation and refurbish surplus/unused equipment.Technicians will be required to operate independently within a team environment.
Education/Experience:
Requires a High School Diploma or GED, A.S., or CST Certification preferred.Requires a current, valid, unrestricted California Driver's License and clean driving record.Candidates must be able to lift up to 50lbs from the ground floor.Computer and database skills are required.
PreferredQualifications:
One year of related work experience with laboratory or hospital equipment.One year of direct experience with ISO 9001:2008, 10012, 17025 or 13485.Moderate working knowledge of calibration principles and good documentation practices.Knowledge of Refrigeration Equipment Calibration, Maintenance, Repair, and Troubleshooting.Candidates must have the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, shifts in priorities, and time sensitive projects.Candidates must be customer service oriented. Ability to use electronic Test Equipment and be able to read schematics.
Physical Demands:
Driving: Frequently operates company vehicles and equipment.Walking: frequently standing on feet for the majority of the shift (up to 8 hours/ per day, 40 hours/ per week); works in confined spacesCarrying: Frequently transports objects by holding them in hands or arms or by using carts.Hands/Arms: Frequent operation of hand and power tools.Handling: Seizes hauls or works with hands.Lifting: Frequent lifting raising and lowering of laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, pumps, motors, and other related items.Bending/Stooping: Frequent bending at the knees or waist. Occasionally moving in and out of confined spaces.Sitting: moderate sittingFrequently works on live electric equipment.Occasional overtime beyond 40 hours/week, or 8 hours/day required.
Physical Strength:
Lifting: occasionally lifts up to 75 pounds; frequent exertion.
Environmental Conditions:
Noise: Occasionally works in noisy conditions.Personnel Protective Equipment required, safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes.
