  PostedJanuary 09, 2023The Graduate Education Office in the School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) invites applications for an Instructor position for scholars with expertise in graduate level career and professional development. Working with limited supervision, the Director of Career & Professional Development is responsible for creating, integrating, and executing various professional development efforts for master's, doctoral, and dual degree (MD/PhD) students within the School of Medicine (SOM). The Director of Career & Professional Development will work closely with the Vice Dean for Graduate Education to develop a cohesive curriculum of programs for graduate students at the master's and doctoral level in support of professional development and career skills. The Director of Career & Professional Development will be responsible for evaluating and understanding the professional development needs of our students and work closely with organizations around campus, including the Professional Development Center, to develop and offer professional development programs that will serve all SOM graduate students. The director will be responsible for programming to help students identify career paths and provide career counseling using individual development plans (IDPs), EnRICH and ExTEnD and other programs and resources available. The successful candidate will work in consultation and/or collaboration to identify and invite speakers relevant to the needs of our students to the Professional Development Seminar series. The director will create, assess, improve, and lead a formal curriculum for leadership, professional skills and career development for SOM students.Candidates should have a master's or PhD degree in biomedical related field with knowledge or experience in industry, a minimum of 5 years of related experience; experience in the development and assessment of leadership and professional development programs, training students in various aspects of leadership and professional skills development and counseling biomedical and health-related doctoral and master's students on career opportunities. A successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to effectively and professionally communicate and work with students and individuals from a broad spectrum of disciplines, technical and educational backgrounds within the department, School of Medicine and University, and with individuals outside the University.
