Job Purpose:
First shift position.
PRS Axle Line Quality Technician position works independently and/or as a quality team member to ensure conformity to quality processes. In addition to PRS Axle Line, this position supports quality initiatives in W-S manufacturing facility related to operations, supplier quality and materials and required skills et must include a great mechanical aptitude and computer skills in order to improve safety, quality, and efficiency of the inspection operations.

Education / Training:
• HS Diploma or equivalent;
• 2 years of experience as Quality Inspector in the manufacturing environment;
• Experience as a machinist or assembler preferred.

Key Job Elements:
• Have ability to perform ALL inspection duties for the PRS Axle Line on the floor;
• Support the Continuous Improvement process for the PRS Axle Line and the entire W-S facility;
• Participate in efforts to investigate and resolve quality issues associated with PRS Axles manufacturing;
• Communicate frequently with team members, team leaders, and supervisors in your own group as well as in Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, EHS, Purchasing, and Facilities;
• Perform root cause analysis to investigate quality issues resulting from suppliers or Engineering design;
• Ability to multitask and prioritize work;
• Gather data from various tools, gages and tooling systems and prepare data reports, quality analysis and reviews;
• Requires an excellent attendance record and willingness to work overtime when necessary or required for the area working;
• Measure component dimensions and interpret results for conformance versus drawing requirements;
• Communicate inspection results to operations department colleagues. Provide feedback in a constructive and diplomatic fashion.

Qualifications and Experience:
• At least one year of experience is required in the Manufacturing Quality Inspection environment;
• Demonstrated mechanical and assembly aptitude, & computer skills;
• Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with coworkers, suppliers and customers;
• Have ability to perform the inspection duties for any quality gate on the W-S facility floor;
• Experience reading engineering drawings and PRS specifications;
• Understanding of geometric dimension and tolerance;
• Computer literacy with proficiency in MES, AQE, and Microsoft Excel;
• Ability to use Team Center software to open and view CAD models;
• Understanding and experience with the root cause and corrective action (RCCA) or 8D issue resolution process;
• Experience operating inspection equipment;
• Knowledge of APQP;
• Experience in use of manual measurement devices (calipers, gauges, micrometers);
• Understanding and experience with AAR manuals, such as MSRP section GII, J etc.;
• Knowledge of the PRS Axle manufacturing process;
• Experience with “Infinity” SPC software;
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working near moving mechanical parts, overhead cranes and lift truck traffic.
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met successfully to perform the essential functions of the job:
• Requires long periods of standing, reaching and using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls;
• Requires frequent walking up and down floor to platforms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl inside the product as required;
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds;
• Metatarsal safety shoes are required as well as safety glasses.
