Salary: £68,500 - £85,500

Role
Accountable for the management of a portfolio of Internal Research and Development (IRAD) initiatives and for generating product management approaches for new software products that will deliver future capabilities and differentiators for National Security Solutions. This will be achieved whilst ensuring schedule and budget adherence are maintained, in order to achieve business outcomes. Responsible for ensuring accurate and consistent reporting of each initiative and product keeping senior management, internal stakeholders and customers fully informed in all areas. Managing change to ensure all portfolio objectives and performance goals are achieved.
Key Responsibilities Lead and direct diverse, multi-function matrix teams to deliver internal research and development initiatives and further developing products in all phases of the development lifecycle.Be the key interface to the external customers and senior stakeholders, managing and maintaining the relationship to ensure the delivery of product demonstrations with a high level of customer satisfaction.Establish and be accountable for the delivery of all internal research and product development milestones, plans, resources, schedules and budgets in accordance with delegated Director Authority.Identify and manage each internal research and product initiative risks and issues, identifying, agreeing and implementing appropriate solutions. To carry out any other reasonable management request. General Operational Duties Attend Leadership Team management meetings as required.Report progress of each internal research and product development initiative in accordance with monthly reporting cycle of which will include finances, customer feedback, planned demonstrations and risks and issues.Remain compliant with all applicable Processes and procedures.Support the Technical Director and OU Directors in developing and growing a professional and engaged team.Understand and apply all policies, processes and procedures around compliance and governance. Essential qualifications / experience Proven leadership experience of complex Defence and Cyber programme management, including change management.Successful delivery of development programmes for complex / high value / long term projects and services.Has demonstrated best practice in execution of successful system sustainment and the leadership and skills that have delivered success.Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills & experience to influence senior internal & external stakeholdersTranslate & present complex technical concepts to management & customers, as presentations or written media.Proficient in the application of product, programme, portfolio and service management frameworks e.g. APM, MSP, Prince II, ITIL, Lean, and Scrum management techniques.Competent in the use of MS office including MS project or other industry recognized project scheduling tools.Adaptability / resilienceResourcefulnessRisk managementPreferred qualifications / experience Experience of product line management desirableCompetency/Skill requirements Commercial acumen and deep understanding of business financials.Excellent customer and internal verbal and written communication skills.Leadership skills.Adept at problem-solving, able to develop solutions to a variety of problems.Good attention to detail.Organised, adept at workload management and prioritising appropriately to meet deadlines.Flexible and responsive to changing priorities.Proactive team worker that can work in matrix environment, equally self-motivated and able to work autonomously and in conjunction with key supporting disciplines e.g. business development, technical, finance, contracts.Good interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with all audiences/stakeholdersFluent in written and spoken English.Strong customer focus.Engaging 'can do' attitude.Other requirementsTravel requirements: Occasional UK travel may be required to attend team/customer meetings and training activitiesClearance requirements: Post-holder must hold and maintain UK Government SC clearances and UK citizenship #LI-CC1
