GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Agriculture, Technical Services Division, is searching for an
Inspection Specialist II for its Cheyenne office. This position is responsible for Pesticide
complaints and inspections of individuals, companies, and government agencies for the eastern side of Wyoming. In addition, the successful applicant will provide education and technical support to Wyoming pesticide applicators to help them be compliant with State and Federal pesticide regulations including the Federal Fungicide, Insecticide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA).
The successful candidate must possess organizational skills, be adept at time management, be a proficient communicator, and will also perform other Division Plant Industry duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Responsible for regulatory and compliance inspections and investigation ofcomplaints concerning the use of pesticides primarily on the Eastern side of the state.
Compiles information, completes forms, and reports, and disseminates to appropriateparties, along with maintaining files and record system of all activities.
Stops sales, condemns or confiscates consumer products and various devices asprovided for by statute.
Attend and participate in state-wide and national training events as needed tomaintain education and training in order to stay current with pesticide regulations,
sampling procedures, and evolving regulatory issues
Reviews statutes, rules, and regulations to provide both agency and public feedback.
Perform inspections in a variety of other Division Plant Industry programs as required.
Inspect and sample licensed hemp production and processing facilities in the state of
Wyoming.
Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to the candidate with a Bachelor's degree in agriculture, plant science, chemistry, or related field.
Preference may be given to the candidate with strong verbal and written skills
**Valid Driver’s License
**Have, or obtain in the first twelve (12) months of employment a Wyoming Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of report writing.
Knowledge of sampling procedures and sample integrity.
Knowledge of basic research methods.
Knowledge of government procedures and policies.
Knowledge of pesticides and pesticide applications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Associate's Degree
Experience:
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Inspection) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection Specialist II
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Inspection) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection Specialist II

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Will be exposed to varying weather conditions both indoors and outdoors.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.
