Description
The Watco team is expanding our Information Technology team to complement Watco’s growing role as a leader in the logistics industry. This position’s goals are to ensure the successful completion of Information Technology projects. This includes projects that focus on infrastructure, data integration, 3rd party software deployment, application development, etc. A project’s successful completion is measured in both meeting requirements and delivering on time and within budget.
This position will work in tandem with change management initiatives throughout the Information Technology team. The intent is to make sure the projects are not only successfully implemented, but the ongoing adoption and usage to make these initiatives a success story for Watco’s IT journey.
Responsibilities
Develop clear and concise project plans that define the scope, responsibility, and requirements for IT team efforts as established by the project sponsor and subject matter experts.
Work with various product owners on needed roadmaps and backlogs.
Manage projects as defined by requirements, and ensure they are worked to completion on time within budget as best able.
Provide needed scope management and change control to manage issues and address risks.
Coordinate with project resources to track milestones and deliverables with the appropriate test plans and user acceptance.
Manage vendor engagements and additional liaison activities.
Provide needed status updates to the stakeholders that detail efforts and timelines; including any potential issues, any potential risks, any needed plans to mitigate that risk, and any needed root cause analysis in which those issues and risks resulted in missed deadlines.
Assist with any change management efforts to support project turnover upon completion.
Assist in developing, documenting, and maintaining best practices for project executions including establishing intra-department relations with other project managers to drive common best practices where applicable.
Understand the business and technical needs and processes to ensure project deliverables are meeting the expectations of the business.
Work with developers to ensure solutions are monitored, scalable, and follow industry best practices.
Work with Quality Assurance Team to ensure appropriate test plans are built and executed.
Some travel may be required (usually less than 5%).

4+ years of project management experience.
1+ years of Agile methodologies with supporting tool experience.
Experience with project management tools and software.

Problem-solver with root cause identification skills.
Well-defined presentation skills to various group sizes and seniority.

Experience working in a 24x7 IT environment.
Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools; how to apply them to active projects.
Experience working in an Agile, DevOps, CI/CD environment.
Ability to be a team leader to champion Watco’s IT strategy.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Organization Behavior, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
Desired Skills
Project Management Certification.
1+ years of Business Intelligence or Enterprise Information Management experience.

Experience in the logistics industry, including rail.
