The Industrial Designer will be an integral part of daily Production as well as the R&D team, contributing to multiple programs at various stages in the product development process. Main responsibilities will include capturing, communicating, and refining ideas generated by him/her and others on the Super Color team and determine the appropriate design approach, deliverables, and level of detail based on the project scope and workload. He/she will be required to make informed design judgments as projects evolve, present a range of options, and facilitate meaningful evaluation leading to concept selection. It will also be expected that this position will strike a balance between aesthetics, manufacturability, and usability during generation and ideas development, in addition to providing supervision and guidance over the CAD, Electrical, & Fabrication Departments. This is an On-Site Position-No Remote. There is no Re-Location with this position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Must Have an Industrial Designer & Exhibit/Retail Background · Working with final customers to determine the design requirements · Lead usability study during different project projects ‘phases to set or validate product’s requirements · Brainstorming ideas and creating models · Designing products with the needs and wants of a specific audience in mind · Creating drawings either by either sketching or using CAD software that visually depicts design ideas · Working with design technology · Collaborating with mechanical engineers and manufacturers · Participating in product testing · Determining whether a design is practical by gauging product safety and function EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: · A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design. · A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience. · Must be a visionary who is always looking for new and innovative processes · Keen sense of urgency and common sense · Ability to manage failures and crises calmly · Ability to recommend and implement solutions to address Production problems · Energized and ready to grow with an outstanding organization · Meticulous attention to detail, effective planning and organizational skills · Highly time conscientious · Must lead by example · Must have strong people skills, and the ability to motivate and promote teamwork · Ability to plan and implement improvements · Willingness to learn new and emerging technologies · Ability to resolve problems, document all issues, and put best practices in place to prevent future problems SKILLS & ABILITIES: · Highly capable 3D modeling and advanced surfacing skills using SolidWorks · Proficiency in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing, and knowledge of AWS welding standards & requirements preferred · Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and Illustrator. Animation, Graphic Design, Video or other Multi-Media software skills is a strong plus · Superior verbal, written and visual presentation skills · A self-directed, organized and priority driven work ethic
