Position Summary:Are you passionate about working with rural and Alaska Native students? Love dreaming up programming that will support their success and just wishing for a way to implement it? Rural Student Services (RSS) and Rural Alaska Honors Institute (RAHI) are seeking an enthusiastic team member to help students achieve their goals through proactive coaching and program development.
As an academic coach, you can count on meeting one-on-one with students, hosting events, managing in-house mentoring and tutoring services, and teaching college-level success skills to a classroom full of students. To thrive in this role, you should be a self-starter that possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to respond proactively and in a timely manner to the diverse needs of students, colleagues, and community members is crucial. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential for managing coaching sessions, teaching courses, and coordinating programming effectively. A solid understanding of student success best practices, UA academic policies, and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures will be highly beneficial.
Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position Details:
This position is located on the UAF campus in Fairbanks. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package (https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php) . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule (https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/compensation/files/fy24_staff_salary_grid.pdf) , Grade 79, based on education and experience.
