  Salary: Up to $23.20/hour / Up to 14.50 hours/week

  Location: 227 W. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46601 - 9^th^Floor

  Status: Part Time, Grant Funded up to 29 hours per week

  Incumbent serves as Registrar for the St. Joseph County Department of Health responsible for registering patients, scheduling appointments, and providing clerical support to Clinic personnel.

  DUTIES:

  Greeting, assisting, and observing clinic visitors and patients; registering clients, providing vaccine information/education, assisting clients with completing forms, scheduling appointments, and maintaining orderly flow of clients through clinic.

  Maintains accurate and organized records and enters immunization data into an electronic vaccine information system.

  Performs related duties as assigned.

  I.JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULTY OF WORK:

  High school diploma or GED.

  Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to maintain accurate and organized records, present educational materials and maintain positive community support/public relations.

  Ability to comply with all employer and department policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.

  Ability to properly operate a variety of standard office and medical equipment, including computer and department software applications, keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier, and fax machine.

  Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with all visitors and patients in the vaccine clinic and all medical and non-medical staff working in the vaccine clinic, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities, and disabilities.

  Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/difficult persons.

  Ability to understand, memorize, retain, and carry out verbal or written instructions.

  Ability to file, post, mail materials and maintain accurate and organized records.

  Ability to work alone with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment, often amidst frequent distractions and interruptions, and on several tasks at the same time.

  Ability to apply knowledge of people and locations and plan/layout assigned work projects.

  Ability to work weekday, weekends, and/or evening hours.

  II.RESPONSIBILITY:

  The incumbent performs duties according to a flexible, customary routine with priorities primarily determined by service needs of the public.Assignments are guided by definite objectives using a variety of methods or procedures with incumbent referring to supervisor for unusual matters, such as policy interpretations. Decisions are always determined by specific instructions or existing, well-established policies and procedures.Work is primarily reviewed for adherence to guidelines and compliance with Department policy.Errors in work are usually detected or prevented through procedural safeguards and supervisory review.Undetected errors could result in loss of time to correct error and/or endangerment to others.

  III.PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:

  Incumbent maintains frequent communication with the Department of Health, and the public for purposes of exchanging information and providing service.

  The incumbent reports directly to the Director of Nursing.

  IV.PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  The incumbent performs duties in a clinic environment, involving sitting for long periods, sitting/walking at will, keyboarding, lifting/carrying objects weighing under 25 pounds, bending, reaching, crouching/kneeling, close vision, speaking clearly, hearing sounds/communication, and handling/grasping/fingering objects.The employee maintains contact with the public and may be exposed to difficult persons.

  The incumbent works weekdays, weekends, and/or evening hours as assigned.
