Announcingthe Search for LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE TEACHER FOR MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOLENGLISH POSITION SUMMARY For the position of long term substitute middle& high school English Teacher, we seek an individual with a strongbackground in middle & high school humanities instruction. The personselected will be passionate about educating all students and will be anenthusiastic contributor to a dynamic school environment that has astrong record of academic success. This is a full time teachingposition. EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Daily andWeekly Expectations: - Instruction: Teach 3-5 classes daily in arotating schedule (depending on subject area; class lengths may vary). -Planning & Development (approximately 1/2 hour planning for every hourteaching): plan lessons and instruction; assess student work;collaborate with team teachers on curriculum and assessment; participatein reflective practice and professional development. - Advisory: serveas the advisor for approximately 12-15 students; participate incommunity meetings, facilitate advisory circles and other advisoryactivities. - Supported Study / Silent Reading: depending on teachingload, be available to help students with organization and homework in asupported study or facilitate a silent reading period. - Discipline /Classroom Management: follow the School\'s prescribed discipline,classroom management, and classroom routines to ensure a consistentenvironment across the School for all students. - Online Gradebook:Maintain an up-to-date, online gradebook with information on classsyllabus, homework, unit plans, etc. to facilitate communication withstudents and their families. - Daily Team Meetings: Participate inregularly scheduled grade-level and discipline-based team meetings toidentify students who may be struggling, improve school culture, work asa cross-disciplinary team to integrate curriculum, and build/improvecurriculum across grade levels. - Student Meetings: Attend IEP, 504, andother family meetings as needed. - Additional Coverage and Other Duties(as needed): monitor breakfast, lunch, hallways, and the student supportclassroom; provide substitute coverage for other teachers.QUALIFICATIONS - BA or BS required, MA/MS preferred; teachers must behighly qualified by passing the MTEL test for the subject(s) that theyteach and, where appropriate, hold the SEI Endorsement - these arerequirements that can be fulfilled during the year. - Commitment to thesuccess of all children. - Demonstrated success in collaborativeteaching, managing a mixed-ability classroom, and facilitatingperformance-based learning. - Preferably have at least two years ofclassroom teaching experience or equivalent and experience inimplementing multi-tiered systems of academic and/or behavioralsupport. - A team player with a growth mindset and a sense of humor.
