　　The goal of this co-op position (6 month duration) is to provide recent graduates experience in working in a large pharmaceutical R&D setting and to gain a basic understanding of the science and process of novel drug development and data-driven approach to personalised medicine. Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Immunology department is recruiting for a computational biologist co-op intern, located in La Jolla, CA. The intern will work within the Translational Immunomics team, a diverse group of scientist that provide end-to-end computational support of the Immunology portfolio.

　　Main Responsibilities:

　　Develop, benchmark, and deploy a computational approach for data integration across genetic and single cell/bulk RNAseq data to identify and prioritize disease causal genes in inflammatory skin diseases and explore patient heterogeneity/endotypes.

　　Develop and test computational pipelines to enable integration of single cell/bulk RNAseq and genome-wide association study summary statistics to infer the underlying cell types, processes, and mechanisms by which genetic variants influence disease and communicate results to the larger Immunology Translational Sciences team.

　　As an Intern in the ImmunoDermatology (Immunology, Translational Science) role, you will be a member of a team dedicated to the research and development of precision medicine strategies in inflammatory skin disease.

　　Enrolled in a Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in computational biology/bioinformatics, data science, human genetics, or immunology is required

　　Planning, execution, and interpretation of advanced multi-modal “omics” data. Candidates should have experience in statistical genetics and high-throughput sequence data analysis (single cell and bulk RNAseq)

　　The ability to program in R or Python, and experience working with genome-wide association study and ‘omics data.

　　Candidates should be self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and participate in the drug development process.

　　Excellent communication and presentation skills are required.

　　The anticipated base pay for this position is between $21.00 and $45.00, but will be based on candidate’s program year, discipline, degree and/or experience.
