The Financial Advocate supports patients nationally from the onset ofadmission through their discharge from services. In this capacity, they workto educate patients specifically on their financial responsibility associatedwith treatment. This generally includes, review of private pay or commercialinsurance options, accurate accounting of costs, and forecasting of futurecosts for all levels of care. The Financial Advocate collects payments forhousing, documents actions and conversations in the EHR, conducts aidinterviews, and ascertains signatures from patients on regulatory paperwork.
Work closely with the multidisciplinary team and the patient to assistpatients with financial or insurance questions.
Enter clear and timely documentation in the EHR.

Maintaining a collaborative relationship with the multidisciplinary team,specifically the Addiction Counselors, Care Coordinators and Managed CareSpecialists.Any compensation listed by a job board is likely inaccurate and has not beenprovided by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:High School Degree or equivalent2 or more years working in customer service in a healthcare setting, workingwith insurance, registration, coding medical records and/or relatedoffice experience.Must have ability to multi-task between several computer systemsKnowledge of basic Microsoft office programs and 10-key skills, includingdata entryAble to develop effective rapport with customers, co-workers, orfamilies, actively listening to develop a positive connectionCurrent CPR Certification or obtained within 30 daysCertification must be from American Red Cross or American Heart AssociationPreferred Qualifications:
Associates degree
Knowledge of multiple health insurance plans
Front end patient facing or patient supporting roles and knowledge(Financial Advocate, Patient Access, Verification of Benefits, PriorAuthorization). Working directly with a patient population regardinginsurance and finances.
