We're currently looking for an experienced Controls Engineer with an automotive manufacturing background to join our growing team of engineering, ergonomics and IT professionals.
The experienced Control Engineer will be working with one of Sandalwood's global automotive OEM clients to help with IIoT system and controls development for automotive manufacturing processes. This is an onsite position in the Redford, MI area. Details about the role are as follows:
Provide a strong skillset and background in PLC programming including with Siemens (TIA Portal), Allen Bradley\Rockwell and Soft PLC technologies.
Lead projects supporting manufacturing business units leveraging advanced technologies supporting advanced manufacturing initiatives, delivering key capabilities as required.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver planned project deliverables.
Benchmark new advanced technologies and develop supplier partnerships to benefit future state applications.
Teach/Coach/Mentor and document technical knowledge.
Highly motivated self-starter
Ability to think “outside the box” to generate feasible and beneficial solutions to tackle complex problems
Ability to generate new ideas to improve upon existing (legacy/traditional) processes within Manufacturing
Proficient with Microsoft Office products
Ability to work in a team using Agile Scrum methodology and take direction from scrum lead.
Requirements
Technical education and training around electrical engineering
2+ years code development experience in controls-based solutions
Strong project management and organizational skills
Direct experience with automotive manufacturing
Ability to work in a team environment, strong interpersonal and communication skills
Siemens TIA Portal Software code development experience and working knowledge of SCL or STL language
Preferred:
Knowledge of Mfg 4.0 (Industry 4.0) key principles – data collection, AI, machine learning, IIoT, Networking and Controls architectures including reading/editing Engineering Documents
Knowledge and experience with Plant Floor IT Systems
Desire to learn and switch between programming languages
2+ years code development experience using Object-Oriented programming language (JavaScript, Java, C#, Swift, etc.)
Web application code development experience (HTML5, CSS, etc.)
