  POSITION SUMMARY:

  Amentum is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a subject matter expert in crime scene investigation and reconstruction. This position will be responsible for mentoring host-country experts on training, techniques and procedures used in the collection, packaging, preservation, and court production of physical evidence with an emphasis on ISO/IEC 17020 and/or 17025 accreditation requirements.

  JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  The Forensic Crime Scene Advisor is the principal subject matter expert in crime scene investigation and reconstruction. The advisor mentors host-country experts on training, techniques and procedures used in the collection, packaging, preservation, and court production of physical evidence with an emphasis on ISO/IEC 17020 and/or 17025 accreditation requirements. The advisor is responsible for advising and training host country experts on the photographic, video, diagramming/mapping and written documentation of the scene and evidence; scene and evidence management to include chain of custody and logs of scene access and evidence recovery; recovery of latent prints using physical and other techniques on various substrates; searching for, presumptive testing, and collection of biological fluid evidence, including the use of forensic light sources; and collection and documentation of ballistic, trace, impression, and other types of forensic evidence.

  Additionally, the advisor mentors on the use of equipment and reagents such as magnification devices, digital cameras, light sources, fingerprint powder, chemical fume hoods, and related chemicals; expert testimony; development of standard operating procedures; and determination of best practices in workflow efficiency.

  The advisor will also work with various US officials from Departments of State (DoS) and Justice (DOJ). Duties also include facilitating meetings; leading working groups; developing reports and specialized papers; reviewing and editing policies; and conducting briefings.

  REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS :

  (Superior experience in critical areas may be substituted for other areas at DOJ discretion)

  Minimum of 10 years of forensic science experience progressively increasing forensic experience.

  Minimum of 5 years of related crime scene investigation experience.

  Clearable: Candidates must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a US Government Public Trust Clearance.

  DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  Professional Certification, Certified Crime Scene Investigator, Analyst, Reconstructionist, or Senior Crime Scene Analyst through the International Association for Identification (IAI) or equivalent.

  Bachelor’s degree in forensic science, physics, biology, molecular biology, chemistry or related fields from a US Department of Education recognized institution.

  Experience supervising or managing crime scene investigation activities.

  Demonstrated experience in QA/QC inspections and validation for forensic facilities.

  Continuing education demonstrated through publications, presentations, coursework, internships, or certifications; and,

  Language and foreign service skills/experience.

  Experience training or advising foreign officials.
