PenFed is hiring a Director, Business Intelligence Consumer Banking to work onsite at our Tysons, Virginia location. The incumbent should be analytically driven with strong technical and business knowledge in Banking or Finance, Product Management and have experience working with big data. In partnership with BI & Product leadership, the Director of Business Intelligence is tasked with managing resources in support of driving actionable insights, recommendations and helping the product arms of the organization meet their data needs. The ideal candidate has had previous experience working in partnership with Product Managers, Engineering, Data Engineering, Program Management and Executive Leadership in an organization in addition to managing and mentoring a team of junior to seasoned analysts. This role requires developing strong relationships cross-functionally, with an emphasis on delivering compelling, data-informed actionable insights to various audiences, from product owners and executive leadership.

Develop core reporting architecture for product teams that help them monitor and manage their business.
Anticipate and plan for Product’s insights and data needs to help prioritize and optimize product portfolio.
Identify gaps in the current product portfolio and recommend enhancements or new offerings that meet customer needs and market trends leveraging data-driven insights.
Conduct thorough analysis of product performance metrics, usage and engagement patterns, to drive product roadmap decisions.
Oversee the Data Stewardship of Consumer Banking Data ensuring quality, integrity, and compliance of data, including its governance, security, and privacy.
Manage and mentor a growing team of analysts, reviewing analytical methodology, actionable insights, recommendations; coach analysts on best practices to storytelling given the audience composition.
Manage the team of analysts in developing analytical insights to support the product team’s business questions, challenges and opportunities through effective, executive-ready data-storytelling.
Oversee the quarterly product roadmap prioritization process on behalf of the Analytics team and in coordination with the project management team aligning on goal commitments with minimal oversight.
Manage and prioritize business requests of stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of projects, resolving challenges and roadblocks with minimal oversight as they occur.Act as a liaison and dedicated business partner between Analytics, Product and Data Governance leadership and other cross-functional teams involved in product development lifecycle, building strong partnerships and rapport for continued long-term business success and collaboration.
Collaborate with Product leadership on hypothesis generation for A/B testing on a regular basis instilling a data-informed culture across teams; educate, train and assist Product in understanding the data lifecycle end to end, from tracking implementation through insights
Qualifications
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
Bachelor's Degree required in Economics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Information Management & Systems, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
Master’s Degree or MBA preferred.
A minimum of twelve (12) years of progressively responsible experience with a focus on data strategy, dealing with large data sets and interpreting data to draw meaningful insights and recommendations, preferably within the Financial Services Industry
Minimum of two (5) years of supervisory / management experience.
Proven track record of advancing thought leadership and enabling an analytical strategic vision for Product insights
Proven track record of translating stakeholders' business needs/questions into comprehensive, actionable insights.
Strong understanding of programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL, or R)
Experience with Data analytics tools supporting data cleansing and data visualization (e.g., Tableau, Tableau Prep)
Experience working with Cloud Data Wharehouses, with Snowflake Data Cloud and Salesforce Data Cloud experience preferred.
Experience partnering with large, cross-functional teams and leadership.
Experience mentoring and providing feedback to analysts to deliver exceptional presentations and results.
Advanced knowledge of industry standards and practices in business intelligence/analytics.
Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts at business and also entry user level
Effective communicator of technical and statistical concepts in an easy-to-understand manner from entry level to executive.
Ability to plan, direct and advise others on highly complex and sensitive projects and prepare and present technical reports.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. High degree of proficiency in synthesizing and communicating data from a variety of disciplines.
Supervisory Responsibility
This role will directly supervise employees.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.
Travel
Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may is required.
