Summary NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities. The Division of Education Programs is designed to strengthen sustained, thoughtful study of the humanities at all levels of education. The Humanities Administrator positions are responsible for administering grants. Responsibilities Note: This position may be made permanent without any additional competition. Reviewing grant proposals and assess eligibility and consistency with Endowment goals. Conducting peer review of applications by experts in the field of the grant making process. Arranging for review and evaluation of grant proposals by peer review panelists. Presenting division policies, procedures, and funding recommendations orally and in writing to internal and external audiences. Promoting the work of the division and larger goals of the Endowment to outside constituents. Working collaboratively with other division staff members to accomplish these duties. Publishing - in print or online - articles or essays for a public or academic audiences. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: experience working in secondary and higher education, teaching classes in the humanities, working in education programming, curriculum development, or in an advanced education position in a museum or historical society; preparing, reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating processing education grants; writing and researching on educational programs material; presenting data to employees and management. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: work in the humanities performed with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, requiring extended professional training and experience and which has demonstrated important attainments and marked capacity for independent work. Education A Masters degree in a discipline of the humanities is required (a Ph.D. is preferred). Additional Information 1.
