SUMMARY
The Human Resources Manager is a critical position that will act as a business partner by providing professional HR guidance and support to relevant internal client groups with the objective to add value to the business. This position will be responsible for staffing, compensation and benefits (including superannuation) , payroll, employee relations, HRIS, policy development, learning initiatives, employee activities, performance management and support of quality, health and safety programs; as well as ensure compliance with local regulations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Contributes to the business strategy by helping identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes.
Supports line management in forecasting and planning talent pipeline requirements.
Facilitates initiatives to build a high-performing organization aligned with the strategic leadership agenda
Ensures HR processes and practices at all facilities within assigned region are in compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
Ensures compliance with the Company Collective Agreement and assists Management to negotiate and lodge any changes and/or new agreements with staff.
Researches and responds to questions related to HR and interprets policy where clear-cut procedures do not exist. Assists with the interpretation and application of Company personnel policies and procedures.
Leads investigations into workplace allegations of harassment, discrimination and retaliation. May initiate appropriate steps for resolution and make recommendations to Management.
Implements programs to ensure employees at all levels of the organization understand their roles and responsibilities with respect to compliance initiatives.
Manages all aspects related to recruitment efforts, including preparation & posting of ads, applicant tracking, administration of employment tests, scheduling & managing interviews, conducting background reference checks, preparing & distributing job offers. Conducts new-employee orientations; employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
Rewrites job descriptions as necessary; analyzes compensation; monitors the performance evaluation program and suggests revisions as necessary.
Ensures superannuation obligations are met in accordance with applicable law and payroll functions are performed accordingly.
Manages employee Leave accruals and approvals by Dept Manager and calibrates with Management & Finance.
Manages specific projects as determined in the annual HR operational plan as well as participates in functional and cross-functional initiatives.
Supports Management team with Company Performance Management activities.
Develops and promotes feedback mechanisms for employees to influence continuous improvement of HR services and processes.
Develops, recommends and implements HR policies and reward strategies to ensure decisions and practices are fair, consistent, objective and in-line with business goals.
Coordinates separation of employees including conducting exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation, notifying appropriate agents within the organization and responding to unemployment claims.
Identifies and drives communication and sharing of learning across functions to facilitate continuous improvement.
Maintains accurate & timely entries in HRIS system, files manual employee records on a weekly basis, conducts periodic audits to ensure accuracy of information and maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
Assists with planning and executing company activities including annual gatherings and HR related activities.
Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follow safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Higher education in business administration and/or HR management with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in HR role(s) in comparable organizations.
Maintains active involvement in the HR community through networking, continuing education/certification, and leadership roles in professional associations.
Ability to develop clear, actionable steps from overall strategy & complete projects meeting deadline/budget.
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, project management skills.
Proficient with HRIS systems and software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite and other appropriate software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with SuccessFactors and/or Ceridian preferred.
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or other HR certifications a plus.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work, with or without advanced notice,
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.

Ensures that staff is contributing at maximum potential through rigorous hiring practices and an emphasis on training and development initiatives, including coaching and counseling direct reports in their performance and professional development, with final authority for approving pay increases, hiring decisions and disciplinary actions.

Establishes challenging, productive and achievable goals for direct reports; measure results by establishing checkpoints to track progress.
Must be able to travel, nationally and internationally, as necessary.
