  Job Description and Duties

  Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II (Supervisory), the incumbent is responsible for creating and updating human resources policies and procedures at the California Energy Commission (CEC). The incumbent will also function as a subject matter expert and serve in a lead capacity over the Selection Services office by providing guidance and training as required. The incumbent will complete special projects involving several units within human resources (HR) including classification & pay, payroll & benefits, and the selection services office. In addition, the incumbent will also be responsible for completing executive recruitment packages for the CEC.

  The incumbent is expected to independently perform complex analytical research in developing and updating policies and procedures as well as completing special projects for division management. The incumbent must be able to work independently with a high level of organization, attention to detail, with an ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and excellent communication skills.

  Working Conditions

  The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location.

  The CEC was established by the Legislature in 1974 to address energy challenges facing the state. Today, the CEC is the state's primary energy policy and planning agency and is leading the state to a 100% clean energy future.   The California Energy Commission seeks a Staff Services Manager I (Specialist) in the Administrative & Financial Management Services Division, Human Resources & Support Services Branch, Selection Services Office .
